Re: water pump

Hi Sven Only you can decide if it's reasonable to continue your restoration. So many factors apply: available funds, available skills, available space are simple ones, but also consider the importance of the car to you and the importance of the car historically. At the end of the day it's your call,...

Re: New Exhaust manifold - bad fit

Thanks for the advice, Bill. Your comment has had me looking at my photos and moving my upturned hands into some quite twisted and distorted positions! The result of all this mental and physical excursion is I think I can switch the manifolds so I have a correct pair on one side and a 'wide' pair on...

Re: New Exhaust manifold - bad fit

Hi Guys I'm resurrecting this post because I have the same problem except my two 'new' manifolds were from a set off a second hand engine, I'm not sure where they came from originally. Has anyone successfully machined the top flanges to get the bottom of the manifolds to line up? If yes, who did you...

Re: Auto trans rear engine mount

Thanks Bob, that's really helpful. As you say, the manuals are next to useless and, as in the post on JAG-lovers, I have some missing parts. How did you manage to compress the spring? My spring is best part of double the length of the bolt/stud and I can't see a safe way to compress the spring yet s...

Auto trans rear engine mount

Does anyone have any advice on reassembly of the rear engine mount?

Reading the JSM and looking at the length of the spring I have to compress it looks like an impossitask but I'm sure I'm not the first person to attempt this.

Thanks

Re: Blue & Brown Battery Terminal Covers

Good news folks... SNG Barratt have new brown & blue battery terminal covers in stock. You can buy new leads with them, or just the covers.

Re: Removal of Distribtor on V12 Motor

Guys, thanks for all your replies. The engine had been stretching my experience and patience for almost twelve months and the thought that I had bitten off more than I could chew was a fairly frequent cause of sleepless nights. Finally I have given up and I have taken the engine to Nigel Boycott in ...

Auto transmission oil leaks

My autobox is out of the car during my engine rebuild. With the 'box on the bench, partially drained and upside down, oil is coming out of the input shaft oil seal like a teapot pours tea. I can't find instructions to replace this oil seal anywhere, Haynes, Jaguar Workshop Manual or the internet. An...

Re: Oil Pump Modifications

Thanks Chris & Andrew.

I've decided to go for a new oil pump. The car seems to have had oil supply problems in the past and this modified pump can't be ruled out as a culprit.

Thanks again guys

Hi again

Here's a photo pf the modification we've found on my V12's oil pump...

Any ideas why someone would do this? For what benefit?

Cheers!

Oil Pump Modifications

Hi All

My engine is being rebuilt. Just had this from the shop... “At sometime someone had die ground out the ports in your oil pump.” Anybody heard of this as a mod on the V12 engine? What benefit might it give?

Photo to follow tomorrow.

Cheers!

Re: Removal of Distribtor on V12 Motor

Thanks for your replies. With Adrian`s feedback, a screwdriver and a little DW40 I've been able to prise the rotor arm off. Still no further with the dizzie though. Metric 5mm seems to be the size that fits best but I have mislaid my imperial set of Allen keys whilst the garage is being insulated so...

Removal of Distribtor on V12 Motor

Hi all I'm struggling to get the distributor off my motor. I have the SNG Barratt electronic ignition. I cannot get the rotor arm off and cannot get any purchase with an Allen key on the screws through the clear plastic cover. Is it normal on this system that the rotor arm won't come off? Any sugges...

The style of air trunking that collects air either side of the engine up near the shock absorbers and pipes it back to the footwells was a later addition.

Thanks Garry, that was the answer I was hoping for. Where did you find that nugget out?

Cheers!
