X-Type project
Something I did for a friend of mine down the road who loves his Jaguars and has an impressive memorabilia collection. His pride and joy is his show-winning X-Type, which he manages to keep even cleaner than my Colt! https://i.imgur.com/bbWB0uk.jpg He wanted the Corgi 1:18 model stripping and ...

Re: v. late 3.8's
You are correct in saying that Aston Martin produce a very similar cross pattern aluminium, with the subtlety being that the reproduction stuff is etched, rather than rolled. My friend Richard ordered the sheets and made his own dash panels for his FHC (860927) which was only the 15th RHD FHC to com...

Lovely stuff, Richard! The card on the right is a very good freehand drawing too. I wish I could draw like that

Hi Keith Welcome to the forum - There's plenty going on with regards to events in the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire/Lincolnshire region - keep an eye out for posts from me for the Derbyshire stuff, we get quite a crowd on events now. Another restorer worth getting to know is Paul Brown, who's not that ...

Re: Distilled/de-ionised water?
If given the choice, I would definitely be using distilled/deionised water, something which as an organic chemist I get through by the litre load. As an experiment for the casual observer, allow to evaporate or boil dry 500 mL- 1 L of both tap and distilled water and compare the residue left behind....

Forum Magazine Article
Hi everyone Hope you're all doing well in this bizarre upside down world at present  I'm always on the lookout for idea to write about in the E-Type Club magazine and usually have something in the pipeline. Incidentally, the next installment of the model OTS article is due soon as is the sto...

Re: New member but not new E owner in Leics England
Hi Andy Great looking car, the S1 4.2 OTS has always been my favourite. Not too far away from you in Derbyshire, my friend Richard Eaton and I run the Derbyshire region of the E-type Club and in a normal world, we probably manage 2 or 3 meetings a year with ca. 20 cars now. You'd be more than welcom...

Marek, you do make a good point about this being a completely different ball game. I saw a few of these style 1:8 diecast models on the Jaguar stand in Geneva a few years ago and the quality is superb. You are indeed paying for the labour and commitment that goes into them.

Re: Wow that's expensive
Your spare wheel is upside down, Simon    Indeed, and annoyingly it will not fit very well the other way up at present! The recess in the floor doesn't line up with the middle of the wheel, but then again it's a custom build that never intended to have anything visible in th...

What they don't realize or ignore is that once mixed, there is no longer clinically significant amounts of the toxic free mercury because of the chemical reactions between the metals during the setting of the restoration. Absolutely. One of my final year modules focused on bio-inorganic chemistry a...

Re: Wow that's expensive
Stunning model and reasonably well detailed, but you'd be mad to buy it for nearly 10K I often wonder how much my heavily modified 1:8 OTS is actually worth to a collector. True, it is not quite finished and the proportions are not absolutely bang on, but there's some hours gone into that and there'...

Re: Jaguar Paintings.
Fabulous work, Paul! I would never have the ability to do free-hand drawing like that. Mine would look vaguely like an E-type, but nowhere near an accurate representation! I can build model kits, but that’s kind of cheating in comparison ;) If my mate Richard gets his act together and sorts out eith...

Richard has one of the "replica" Fosseway radiators installed in his 3.8 FHC. Looks fabulous. It has been on the road for going on 3 years now and runs on Evans water-less coolant. No issues reported so far http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj565/SEJohnson95/11065657_1629766193922589_1079209880_o_...

Re: 2019 NEC Classic car show - my Etype
Richard and I visited on Sunday and had a great day. A perfect excuse to visit a nearby Chinese buffet restaurant I knew from my days in Brum also  Some photos from the day - as ever a good mix of all sorts on display. Saw your E-type Chris - it looked lovely. https://i.imgur.com/jHXi2iS.jpg T...
