Re: 3.8 brake & clutch reservoir leaks.

I would not recommend going over to silicone without replacing all the rubbers in the system. (We wouldn't do it). However, if a,n. other company have done it successfully numerous times.......

Well, Julian didn't disappoint! We now have courtesy light switches that fit!

Re: oil pressure sender calibration widget

Hi Serge, try calling them on 01639 732200. I think the quality is excellent and matches the original. I would post some photos but can't. Let me know if you need any more info.

Re: oil pressure sender calibration widget

These guys do a capillary gauge that is pretty close to the original. Needle is ever so slightly shorter. We only fit these now.

Re: Works time estimates - indicative

Can you do a video of you changing all 4 wheel bearings in a morning as well James? Can’t see how you can set/check the end floats or reshim the rears in that time!

I think you'd struggle now for a proper restoration at 100k.

James, come and work for me! Jaguar quoted 7 hours to change a head gasket back in the day. I think your 4 hours is a bit light!

Re: What's missing in these photos?

I feel I must dive in…. We found the issue when Jeremy was collecting the car so had to come up with a solution. I now have the same setup on my car and we are in the process of sorting out a catch tank.

Re: Interesting Discussion

Impossible to answer as it depends on what you want to use the car for. I prefer the S1 4.2 (Fixed head first then OTS) as they are such a well sorted car. I think you still have to upgrade the brakes and fit a better cooling fan. Having said that, my own 67 FHC had completed 84k miles in California...

Re: Won’t start!

If we can't get a car to start and we have spark and fuel, we take the air cleaner plenum off and squirt some easy start into the intakes. If it fires and runs briefly, you know it has to be fuel related.

Re: Engine seized after rebuild?

I’d go with Steve’s response Tadek. Just go over what’s different from when you turned it over outside the car from fitting it. Don’t force anything though!

SNG are now selling the complete units. I’d go for 4 of these (we fit them all the time)

Re: Engine seized after rebuild?

Tadek, before panicking, make sure that nothing else is causing the engine to lock. It might be transmission or some other external issue.

Whatever you decide to do with it is important as if it is a very early FHC shell (and therefore rare) it could be historically important.
