Re: thicker Moto-Lita steering wheel

This is my first post here. I found the thread googling “thick wood steering wheel XKE series 3”. I know some are very conservative with adding changes and some folks put v8s in theirs. I’ve always been a fan of the Series 1 cars with the metal dash and center console, toggle switches and wooden st...

Personally I would use 20W50 Valvoline VR1 Mineral Racing Oil.

Re: Engine oil and antifreeze

I use Mobil1 full synthetic with high zinc content, but looking for a mineral oil with the same high zinc content. (sybthetic supposedly causes more oil leaks than mineral oil, so I'll give it a try) For coolant, Evans waterless. Saved my engine on one occasion when the fans stopped working while 20...

When it’s rev related, I’d suspect the “brushes”.

Re: AC temperature control capillary broken

Hi Holger, My ac temperature control works well. As you pointed out, it basically controls the ac compressor clutch. However, the fan switch seem to have developed the same problem as your switch. It used to give me three speeds, but now only high works. New switch or cleaning is I’m my future. Chee...

Essentially you can't get what Jaguar originally used; a heat formed textured plastic.

Vinyl material is what you are left with. It's thicker so you run into problems with clearance.
I had mine done in leather and can attest to the clearance statement.

Re: AC temperature control capillary broken

I’m guessing it’s the valve assembly. ?
I bought mine fro SNG maybe 5 years ago but can’t remember what I paid.
I do have all invoices and can check it if needed.

Apart from what Marek correctly points out, I would personally leave the doors off while installing the interior.

Re: Sandblasting bonnet

You are correct, sandblasting creates a lot of heat and can distort larger items such as bonnets, wings, door skins and so on. Dipping, stripping or soda blasting are the most common methods. I took my bonnet completely apart and had it soda blasted before addressing the rust. https://i.postimg.cc/B...

Hi Paul,
sorry for not answering sooner.
I don't think so. My fan belt only squeal when I stab the accelerator, not at steady RPM, sorry no help there.

Re: Suspect voltage regulator

Depending on the age of the belts, they might have gone hard and every time they squeal, they’ll get more “glazed” and slippery. Mine are 9 years and 5k miles old and does the same, but it goes away immediately after start up. Maybe some friction spray, new belts, ear plugs or leave it ? Cheers .......

Re: Air in the brakes ?? Series 3 E-type

If I remember correctly then a spongy pedal is caused by air in the system. If you can pump the system, its caused by excessive brake pad travel. Mostly seen in drum brakes that need adjustment, but I'd expect a disc brake where the caliper isn't centered on the disc will show similar symptoms. What...

Re: AC Compressor- Anyone have this happen?

Could be your compressor starting to seize up, causing the belt to slip. Happened to my Chevy bus. Made one hell of a noise as well.
If this is a new phenomenon, what would cause a sudden miss-alignment of the pulleys ?

Re: Door Drain Hole Shroud

Dear all, The left door of my E OTS SIII does not have door drain hole shrouds. I neither find these drain shrouds in the original spare parts catalogue nor a supplier for them . Drain shrouds for SI are available from suppliers, e.g. SNG Barratt (BD20878/1) but they have a different design in comp...

Mark is correct......conduct routine maintenance. Use the right mix, and you should have no problem. Simple....and Evans is a waste of money.

Good luck !

Re: Header Tank Corrosion

Mine is not coated, but I use "Evans" waterless coolant which will cause no corrosion and is a coolant for life. The boiling point twice (~200C/~400F) the boiling point of normal coolant, which will prevent the risk of hotspots in the heads with dropped valve seats as a potential result. Saved me on...
