Re: New member from Holland with a backrest problem
The OTS seat backs are much smaller to clear the hood when folding down, but even then the mechanism fouls the trim piping when the seat is fully back  All the seat wood is easily available https://i.postimg.cc/QNRDgFsZ/DSC-0059-864x1536.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/XvycC1gb/DSC-0061-1536x864.jpg...

Re: Differential Fixing Threads
Thanks for the info, did not realize that before, would be a nice to have feature on the SNG website  . Nevertheless it might be of help for Oliver, since I measured thread lenght only (without cone) as I understand that he rebuilds a special which might use the axle (diff) only, fastened with...

Re: Differential Fixing Threads
I have a rear suspension on my bench at the moment (with type C axle)
the lower fulc bracket bolts are 7/16 UNC, the short ones have 1/2 , the longer ones 3/4 thread lenght (approx).
The 4top bolts are 1/2 UNC x 3/4.

You really cant compare a modern BMW with a classic EType.
But I found tyre pressure to be of importance when it comes to breaking away in tight corners. I ve got skinny Avon turbosteels on orig 5 rims. Anything above 2,2 bars (31 psi) makes the tail swing.

Re: Clutch hydraulic gearing
From experience: the diaphragm clutch has a in/out feel and is heavy at the point where it closes, so more difficult to dose (sorry for my English) than the spring clutch, which sems to have a constant backforce. But both not heavy at all compared to a 1974 Aston AMV8

Re: 5-Speed Boxes
I've got a standard, well worn 3.8 engine with factory power (at the most). Mated to a 3.07 axle this leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to spirited driving on winding roads with uphill sections (lots of them in my country). I decided to install a 3.54 axle. Now I am missing a fifth gear on mo...

Re: Rear Calipers
I usually try air and rags first and move over to the grease gun when pistons dont move immediately. The grease gun connects directly to the bleed screw by the way, plug the other thread with another nipple.

Hi Andrew,
sorry to hear that. I am sure those guys have never seen a car like that, so they just wanted to be on the safe side with this statement.
All the best

Re: Zeus single pot. Pistons not retracting
Compare the Dunlop (which has no issues I understand) vs the Zeus, both mounted to the caliper as well as side by side on the bench. There must be a difference to be detected.

Re: 3.8 seat frame colour
Incidentally I believe the factory only painted the lower area which is visible under the seat cushion & underside of the seat if removed. The “vertical” backrest behind the moquette etc. was left raw steel .... well, that’s what I found when I removed the trim on mine. I suspect this is factory co...
