Re: Chris Vine's E-Type Rebuild by category

George, I’d seen the same problem and had waited to see if it cleared. Obviously not. It’s a very useful website and I could wish it was hosted on here if Chris isn’t keeping it going.

Re: JDC JEC or E-type club

Serge, you can still join both the JEC and JDC as they have sections all over Europe.
Bill, keep us up to date on how you get on and how the local area club works. Good luck in finding a group you enjoy being with.

Re: JDC JEC or E-type club

Bill, contact each club and ask if they’ll send you a copy of a recent magazine to read and where their local clubs meet. Some areas have large and active membership with mainly social evenings rather than old blokes talking about the size of their gudgeon pins and can have a large number of lady me...

Re: Christmas lights!

Julian, you know Uncle Scrooge likes to make us wait till the last moment. After all for him it all happens on Christmas Eve, so he’s not even been visited by the ghost of Christmas Past (Peter Crespin). With the ghost of Christmas Present (Steve Hook mgcjag) waiting in the wings and the awesomely f...

Re: Registration in Italy rejected - EEC-homologation - help wanted

Jan, don’t rely on online posts in club forums. Contact the club directly as they have some very experienced and knowledgeable people who have helped many with getting ex-US cars registered. And they will be a good place to ask about homologation of the engine identification. Also, we are encouraged...

Re: Registration in Italy rejected - EEC-homologation - help wanted

Jan, the biggest Jaguar club in the UK is the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club https://jec.org.uk/ You might find it worth contacting them to find if they have answers to your questions or know who to talk to. The cost of joining the club is easily outweighed by the savings you get at SNG Barratt as a club m...

No! They take up so much space, much easier to take the work to a man with a lathe and let him get his hands dirty

Philippe, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. Lots of help, information and advice. There's also a good sense of humour. Read the restoration section for examples of how others have gone through what you will experience: https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewforum.php?f=8 Ask questions and you'...

Re: Which fuel to use?

Besides going to an airfield to buy avgas where else can you buy 100 octane fuel? And why do you want that? E5 and E10 are all the standard fuels in Europe which you surely buy at all the normal petrol stations for your other cars. And which you’ll have to use in your E Type in the future, unless yo...

Re: Which fuel to use?

You don’t need lead, can you get premium 98 octane e5 from Esso, Shell, etc.? If you can you’ll be fine. Don’t worry about all these claims of having to put exotic fuels in your car. If you can only get e10 95 octane you may need to de-tune the engine to avoid pinking, but you’ll know how to do that...

Nicole, if you look top right where your user name is you can select the down arrow and then modify your user signature to include your name and car type. There’s lots of help on here. Having a name to reply to is much more polite and if we know which car type you have then repossess can be tailored...

Re: Air Filter Canister Closing Clamps or Clips

Rory, on my S2 there is one catch above the forward bolt that holds the canister to the car, with the other two at 120 degrees from there. So that means one is above the inlet tubes and all well clear of any frames. To get that arrangement would mean you drilling off and re-positioning all three. Ho...

Pierre, is this a new bonnet or was it like this when you bought the car? (Hood is the American word, bonnet is English). If you bought the car with it like that you should have asked the seller to fix it before paying. Here is a recent topic about adjusting the bonnet https://forum.etypeuk.com/view...

Re: Front Frame (or Picture Frame) Fasteners (again)

Rory, that is excellent and should be added to the knowledge base. Andy Raynor included a simple diagram with the frames I bought from him for my S2. That and your thesis will really help and I’m going to copy the above to a pdf and print it out to have to hand. I’d buy you a beer, bottle of wine or...

You may find good comments on jaglovers which is an American website and they will have more experience of doing something like this. Also they have comments about how to adjust Strombergs to give better perform...
