Hi Chris,
I was trying to be politically correct but it kind of went wrong ! If it’s any consolation then I’ve now become a Senior Citizen !
I’ve got to say that with the work days gone and no need to bow to corporate correctness I feel much relieved!
Happy New year to all
Tim

Re: registration of U.S. import.
Hi, plenty of threads on this. In my case I followed the procedure on the DVLA website and sent off for their info pack. Completing the forms is relatively easy using the help guide they provide. I sent mine off with the required £55 and 2 weeks later the new registration document arrived. I didn’t ...

Re: E type reaction plate
On my first e type , many years ago, I distinctly remember that the reaction plate had been abused much in the way Christopher describes. The top half of the section which runs between the sump and the bell housing had been ground away.
Until now I had no idea why this had been done

Re: Series 1 2+2 values
I sold my series 1 2+2 last autumn via car and classic. Placed the advert at 7pm and had to turn the phone off at 10pm. Had a number of viewings but sold to the first guy at the asking price of mid 40s. The car was excellent bodily and even more so mechanically. A genuine RHD car. Possibly needed re...

The interference appears to be with your clutch master cylinder and specifically the output pipe. Are you sure this cylinder is correct as mine is different with angled output pipe work.

Re: Ignition Lead Set
Ahh - champion plugs.
I think most recommend NGK but before you throw more money at this problem maybe you could check the resistance of each and compare.
I’m sure others will know more & better
Pesky misfires!

Re: Boot release will not open?
Since straws are being clutched at and before extreme hole cutting measures are undertaken maybe its an idea to remove the seat belt mountings from the inside by the hood and possibly you can poke something down to shove luggage around ?

I’ve just glued mine in place.
Have a look at the blog by Chris Vine. Google “ Chris vine e type”. Under the section of trimming this shows you how it’s done.

As Julian has said the 3.8 manifold is very different from the 4.2. Yes is fits the studs on the head but you need to block off 2 water passages and then configure the hose arrangement. Throttle linkages are different as well. It’s been done before and I considered it but managed to find a 4.2 manif...

Re: Jaguar XK-6 DOHC port/cylinder head analysis
I read somewhere in the dim and distant past that at one time the plug holes were welded up and redrilled to use 10mm motorcycle plugs ?
I will see if I can dig it out.

Re: Thinking of buying an E-Type
Hi, I imported my car last year and spent a while looking at the various options and web sites. My experience ( which may not be common to others). Cars listed on Autozin at incredible prices almost always could not be viewed before purchase. Make of that what you will Cars on Bringatrailer.com seem...
