Re: Stubborn Glass
Hi Peter, Having done as you have (removed the vertical section), I liberally used WD-40 around the glass, letting it soak in and then gently using a small flat headed screw driver worked the chrome away from the glass to start it moving and then pulled the chrome away slowly using my hands. I worke...

Hi Richard,
Maybe we need a version that runs along the lines of ‘...brake system is filled with silicone brake fluid....’
I’ll get my coat...

Engine loom grommets
Evening all, Just starting to fit the engine looms and think I am possibly making a mistake with one of the grommets. In the picture below, you can see the ‘alternator harness’ grommet seems far too loose around the harness once fitted. I can fit a finger along side it. Also in the photo is the only...

Re: Wiper rack fitting
Thanks Robbie and Bob, most helpful! I’ll get the S3 rubber seals and see how the perform. I’ll definitely use plenty of masking tape and report back as to how I get on and if anything useful for us all to learn. On cleaning all the parts this evening, I’m pretty sure there has been no damage to my ...

Re: Wiper rack fitting
Hi John, Many thanks for the reply. I think with the rack installed, the ‘splaying’ of the spindles all then lines up/fits correctly. The rack is also a U shape in profile, so really quite strong and I think unlikely to have been bent previously without a visible mark....but that is of course a gues...

Any series 2 restorers out there please?
Many thanks,
Rich

Re: Wiper rack fitting
Hi Steve, Thanks for the reply. I may well be wrong here, but unlike the series 1 ( in Chris Vine’s blog, which I always check first!) in cross-section the series 2 rack appears to be a more substantial u shape of steel and therefore it doesn’t seem like a viable option to bend it in order to tempor...

Wiper rack fitting
Evening everyone, I am coming to refitting my wiper rack here is a photo showing how the spindles are spayed outwards, making me pause before trying to go further. I believe the the spindles are peened into place? I don’t particularly like the idea of pushing a spindle out to then have to peen it ba...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone from me too!
Likewise, with a car in bits ( just having ‘fun’ with the heater and vac pipes behind the dash ) expect plenty of questions from me in 2020!

Very interesting technique Andy, for those of us working alone in cold workshops! I am sure your method will be very useful for me when the time comes. Page bookmarked
