David - excellent reading. All I have to offer is a minor change to the markings on the petrol pump harness terminal block. http://i.imgur.com/e8q4HZJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/uS7FPYN.jpg Wilder added: As a PS: My Sept 62 car has a alightly different font and elongated spacing after the words battery ...

JAGUAR Motif Joseph Fray of 36 Albion Street, Birmingham - Manufacturers of Medals, Trophies and General Silverware. Birmingham Jewellers' and Silversmiths' Association Member. The JAGUAR motif BD17726 was different on early cars as the motif had a more 'square' cross section although the part numb...

More Fuel Stuff

For those sad people like me - more on the fuel system. In the parts manual (OTS) there is no note of a change to the petrol filler box assembly - but the early cars have the drain hole at the front of the box! On the FHC there is a change listed to the petrol filler box - 860478/886013 but this is ...

Hi Stefan As usual it is difficult to identify the problem without seeing the car. However, hard pedal/brakes locking on is usually caused by blocked/leaking lines, vacuum leaks in the bellows unit or the bellows is not adjusted properly. The service manual page L29 has all the info you need. From m...

Hi Chris No - down in Essex. Sorry did not make my post clear - difficult when you are writing about something you know little about!!!!! However ...... The gearbox had the mod done on it when I got the car - so the travel of first gear going forward is now limited by the DIY spacer. I think what ha...

Hi Peter I have the same problem (62 FHC). My box will only go into first (apart from when I am at a slow crawl) after I preselect second - then straight in but you can feel a slight notch. The gearbox also 'pops' out of second occasionally when coasting. I am no expert by the way - only what I have...

Hi Chris

I used a Halfords 'plastic' spray paint that is for car interiors. Good finish and no flaking. The only supplier for these strips of plastic are in the US (I can't recall where at the moment) and they are only supplied in black and red I think.
