The JCNA guide says that grey ones are 'not correct' and that they should instead be tan. Admittedly grey looks better than tan, the JCNA guide is not always infallible, and as long as it soes the job it's mean to do with the bonnet shut you can't see it anyway...

Given that the maximum fine for displaying an incorrect number plate is ?1,000, you might as well put what you like on your car and just be prepared to pony up each time you get caught...

That's quite cheap! :D As far as I know, the most expensive plate in the UK is 'F1' for which a Bradford businessman was happy to pay in excess of ?400k a few years ago. Funnily enough, the plate belonged at the time to Essex County Council (it had adorned their Mayor's car for many years), and the ...

Just noticed your chassis number in your 'sig'. Our cars are almost siblings: mine's 20258 and is also a FHC.

Just as remarkable as the number of E-types that seem to have been stuffed away in barns (seriously, who does that?), is the number of people with barns. I mean, really - who in this day and age still owns a barn?

And looking at the website post-sale, it looks like the overdrive/Lofty England car must have failed to hit reserve and therefore didn't sell at ?44k after all.

Bonhams Sale

I trotted along to Bonhams sale at the RAF Museum Hendon yesterday. There were five E-types on offer. An 'ex-Lofty England' 2+2 development car with overdrive fitted by the factory went for just shy of ?44k, an S2 roadster went for ?61k, and a LHD 3.8 FHC, which looked very nice apart from the fact ...

These looks OK. Any experiance? http://www.coveryourcar.co.uk/store/product.php?productid=16213&cat=417&page=1 I've bought from them before and they've been fine. Good product and excellent prompt service. I've met the guy who runs the company, Greg, at car shows in the past and he seems fine too.

"any existing tax must be removed from a vehicle prior to its sale"

Sounds unnecessarily bureaucratic. Wonder where the sense is in that?

One of the car magazines (sorry can't remember which one, but I saw it in WH Smith only yesterday) has an article this month on an S2 that's been prepared as you describe ("fast road engine, a number of other modifications") and has had electrically assisted steering installed. The car is the one fe...
