Palnut on steering column
Jaguar fit a palnut on the steering wheel/column as a safety feature to stop the main nut from loosening off. But why a palnut and not a shakeproof washer or similar? Wouldn't they do the same job? Yes, they are reusable which is one advantage but ten or more times the price of a shakeproof or lock ...

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel
Simon, you’ll have to add one of those bosses to my ever increasing list of needs and wants, please  I agree with your point of leaving the steering on full left or right lock and always try to do that when parking. Removing the steering wheel might deter the opportunist thief from trying in t...

Re: Unknown Parts
Graeme, the accelerator pedals are different LHD to RHD which will help explain why these look different and the lack of cut out in RHD carpets. Have you got the SNG Barratts excellent catalogues for the E Type with all parts very clearly shown? SC Parts also have clear parts catalogues. These will ...

You could try COH Baines (https://coh-baines.co.uk/), whether they also supply the ones Barratts sell I don’t know but a lot of owners go to Baines

Re: Wipers won't stop
Gerhard, most electrical problems take a lot of time tracing the individual elements. Please take the switch out and check each part. If that is ok, then you can look at the park switch in the motor. Unfortunately, this can be the problem of needing to eliminate each part of the circuit to find whic...

Re: Wipers won't stop
Gerhard, can you tell us which series your car is, wiring changes with series (add it to your signature at the bottom)
Can you easily remove the switch and check the connections against the wiring diagram to see if the switch shows correct continuity in each position?
Good luck
Geoff

Dave, a slight correction to dates. The prototype K5054 first flew on 5th March 1936, it was the first production Spitfire K9787 that was flown on 15 May 1938. Still they were both Spitfires

Re: Rear Suspension, ride height
Steve, et al, my car on standard springs and Jeremy's on CMC's spring both sit about 8 inch IRS plate to ground and the front and rear wheel arches are the same height and the cars look symmetrical fore/aft. Mine also has renewed front suspension parts and all dimensions were correct. How does 50EE ...
