Re: Boot floor series 3
The Hardura as shown in Colin's pic is supposed to be there - However early in my ownership I removed it as any water finding its way into the boot area drains out there and with the Hardura in place moisture accumulates under it and rusts the floor.

Re: Fuel
The idea of putting 2 stroke oil in the duel comes from modern common rail diesels with tight tolerance high pressure injection pumps. These pumps have extremely high tolerances and are lubricated buy the diesel - they cannot handle any impurities in the fuel like water and if the pump looses lubric...

Re: S2 OTS hardtop can u fit soft top underneath?
Cannot speak for a series 2 but in a series 3 the soft top folds down to the stored position and the hardtop goes on over the top - obviously cannot put the soft top up with the hardtop on
I assume other series are exactly the same.

Re: Getting 20/50 oil in europe
I wish you guys would talk metric - the conversion tables are working overtime. I was 18 when Australia went from imperial to metric so grew up on pounds shillings and pence but 50 years later I have forgotten the old ways and only think metric. So rounding out 6 quarts (UK) is about 6.8litres and 2...

Re: Wheel base dimensions
So on the assumption that the front and rear tyres, wheels and spinners are the same, then front and rear track should be the same even if tyres, wheels and spinners are different from OEM as long as front and rear are the same.

Re: Wheel base dimensions
You have not said what etype you have and I assume you are talking about front and rear track rather than wheel base.
Series 1-2 Track = 50" front and rear - so the same.
Series 3 Track front = 54.375", Rear Track = 53.375"
So if your car is a Series 3 would seem normal.

Re: Air conditioning experiences
Hello Garry, The LHD to RHD conversion car shown in one of the earlier Posts, were the ignition switch has been left on the RHS, would have issues with the plastic housing for the trafficator, fitting the under side contour of the dash panel. Best regards, Bill Hi Bill - yes there are clearly issue...

Re: Age demographic
I bought my E-Type when I was 28 - now 67. I nearly bought a V12 when I was 22 but bought a new Lancia Beta Coupe (the same price at the time). At the time E-Types were the flavour of the month in Aust and a few of my "mates" had 6 cylinder e-types. I have been in the same Jag Club since 1990 - my a...

I was at the workshop where the black XJS was being built - was about 1986 or so. You would not want to buy that car with all the brass welding that was going into that body - not good at all.

Re: Series 3 E Type V12 Overheating Fix(es)
You spent a whole lot of money for nothing as the original cooling system works fine (even on a hot 40c summer day in Australia) if it maintained correctly.
You were better off serviceing your own cooling system.
Hmm OP first post pushing Wizard Cooling

Re: Series3 LHD to RHD conversion - DIY task?
Hi AussieEtype - Can an R12 system be safely recharged with R134a if the correct connectors and additives are used? I cannot help you with that, you would need to speak to your local A/C expert. I am sure the system could be refitted to run the new gas with new pipes, seals etc etc but I dont reall...

Re: Series3 LHD to RHD conversion - DIY task?
I will assume the air conditioning equipment has to be junked! While have the parts from a LHD A/C unit and most say it will not fit, I have done some measuring and I think with some thinking outside the box, it could be made to fit. The console will fit with trimming of the end to clear the RHD ig...

Re: 123-Tune+ static timing
I do not have a 123 on a Jag but I do on an another vehicle. The 123 needs to know where TDC is so its internal programming can work out when to fire - so it it needs to be set up on TDC. In my 123's case I set the engine to TDC and then turn the dizzy until a little light on the side comes on indic...

Re: Painting - Full Body Respray
The issue will be the flux used - I tried a bit of lead loading with horrible results but what I found is that the lead was OK where it went over a flat surface but anywhere over a join the flux got into the join and caused oxidisation. As a result of my trial I have decided to leave filling to the ...

Re: New purchase XK150
Congratulations on getting the XK150 - looks like a really nice car. However to be the main dissenter, the XKs in hard top form are not the prettiest of cars - the roadsters (full convertibles) look really great, the Drop Heads not so much - but I accept that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and...
