Help needed- anyone coming from the EU to spares day
Hi, One of our members is trying to buy a screen chrome I’m selling ( see the for sale section). He is based in Belgium and I’m in the UK near Milton Keynes. If anyone is going to spares day from across the channel near Belgium and is willing to act as courier then maybe we could meet. ( Probably a ...

Re: 3.8 inlet manifold gaskets leaking
I think I used wynns instant black gasket maker. I’m aware however that should I ever want to remove the manifold then this will make it a right bugger.

Re: 3.8 inlet manifold gaskets leaking
I had exactly this problem on a 4.2 with the combined manifold. I was using the tin gasket. After stripping off the assembly and cleaning up I went back to the fibre gaskets and all was well.

Re: Independent inspection
The seam on the rear wing to sill joint would concern me. That along with the poor sill end to wheel arch joint . The car has had new sills I think. ( no bad thing - most have) The extra door lock mentioned is standard fit on series 1 2+2 which don’t have the key in handle set up on the SWB cars. Tim

Ahh,
You have the later block -I understand that. Do the white wires then go directly into the tach case?

Re: Dowty washers
Ok, the issue is sorted. Steve, you were correct about Dowty washers. The additional thickness would have obstructed oil flow. I did try smoothing the banjo connections but to no avail. So went for a braided set up from Rob Beere. Ordered yesterday and fitted today. Beautifully made. Came complete w...

Re: Tacho stopped working
Are you sure that the white loop wires are the right way round ? It’s a while since I had this system but I seem to recall that the little bracket with the wire loop and plastic holder inside it can be fitted the wrong way around and if so the tachometer doesn’t work. Five minute job to undo the knu...

Re: Clutch worry.
As part of this does anyone know where the special clevis pin with groove for the external spring can be obtained ?.
It’s on the SNG site as a kit but not listed separately.

Re: Series 2 engine mountings
I’ve just replaced my mounts after those in place failed after a very short time.
I also used the uprated, steel capped, ones from SNG.
Side by side they are significantly larger the the rubbish I took out. Raising the engine as far as possible to get them in. They do appear robust.

Great service & rubbish products
We’re pretty good on this forum moaning about poor quality goods so I thought I would recount any experience I’ve just had. A few years ago I purchased a long manifold system from Classic Fabs. It fitted beautifully and is a work of art. During some routine checking recently I noticed that one of th...

A search of the forum will show threads on this. Usually I believe associated with problems in the cylinder affixed to the servo.
Assume the the total volume of fluid doesn’t change- just transfers ?

Re: Dowty washers
Thanks both,
Good point raised by Steve - I hadn’t considered that.
Before changing anything I think I will rig up some means of testing the pipe and checking for cracks around the joint. This will help the thought process.

Dowty washers
Hello all I’ve got a bit of a leak from the joint where the cam feed pipe meets the block. I’ve changed the ridged copper washers for new but the leak persists. Before I spend (more) cash on a braided system I’m thinking of trying Dowty seals . Can’t see much on the forum regarding these so any thou...

You may have seen my thread on using the Wilwood cylinder. I have no knowledge of series 3 but on looking at the SNG parts listing it seems that they list the identical master cylinder for most models including S3

Hi Trevor, the discs have been posted some time ago and should have arrived by now.
I would be good if you could confirm receipt and that they are suitable. Also that you have made the charitable gift as per the arrangement.
