Re: Gauge refurbishing.
As Tim says the bezels are pretty easy to twist and prise off. Mine looked like new after blowing out the dust, replacing the seals & lenses and painting the bezels. The old seals were hard and crumbly! Not always easy to completely avoid the fogging but it might be worth polishing the glass inside ...

That Bathurst video is one of my YouTube favourites and a potentially powerful influence on such a decision!
Just do it, lifes too short!
If in doubt, watch the video again and turn up the volume higher!

I had fun trying to kick my old Triumph into life at 3 degrees temperature this morning, it looked lovely out of the window! Should have taken the E!

Re: Moving on. Bike resto
Hi Andrew, It’s a great idea and one of my favourite part time hobbies! They don’t take up much room, a nice size to work on and generally shouldn’t cost a fortune, depending on what it is. There are so many interesting brands, British, European, Japanese, American. The big question is where do you ...

Re: Engine ‘Popping’ on overrun
Hi Ash, That would sound to be a likely factor. If you were previously mild steel theres also that difference. Id just say make sure you re-jet / change needles to suit, to ensure its not too lean with the new exhaust. A good rolling road session is always worth the money. I had just done 1000 mile ...

Re: Engine ‘Popping’ on overrun
Mine also does a bit of the same. I was concerned it might be too hot/lean but the recent time on the dyno proved otherwise. It might also be an air leak upstream on the exhaust allowing air in and igniting the unburnt fuel. My exhaust seems a tad louder / less restrictive so that might also be cont...

That’s what friends are for!
I’d mentioned previously that my best buddy has a very successful automotive design, engineering and manufacturing business, and very kindly donated three beautiful semi-aniline leather hides for my re-trim. His business also does stunning classic car restoration, engineering and race preparation, p...

Re: rolling road figures
I’m just back from a rolling road session with Peter Burgess. My mate was on first with his modified MGB with a big valve head, Weber, cam etc, but it didn’t do quite as well as hoped. Mine on the other hand did great! Its done just over 1000 miles since a rebuild, has the ITG Maxogen & UE needles a...

Re: 4.2 cooling mystery
Result! So, today I fitted the replacement voltage stabiliser from Caerbont Automotive, took her for a run and, guess what, perfect! Sitting at about a steady 75 degrees, rising when stationary but controlled nicely by the fan. The old stabiliser seemed normal when ticking over but the extra charge ...
