Yes, that looks like the pattern on the 1963ish cars.

I don't believe it is available now which is a shame as I would like to replace the dash panel on mine.

Re: 3.8 Alloy dash in 4.2

I know its not original, but I really like the alloy dash/gear lever/tunnel trim of the 3.8 and I was thinking of putting it in my 66 4.2 FHC. Will the 3.8 trims fit without modification?? I would expect the dashboard trim to fit, but if you have a cubby box on the console you would have a problem ...

Wow, that's a blast from the past - a photo of what seems to be my photo!. You are correct that there are two wires on one side and a single on the other, so just swap them all across. Incidentally the wiring inside my motor was in very poor condition and Autosparks in Nottingham made up a replaceme...

Re: Electronic speedometer ??

Do you have the original speedo? If so it may be possible to move the innards of an electronic speedo into the original case / dial.

Re: Vacuum pipe clips

Clive - a long time ago Colin Ford used to make those pipes up as sets, so he may be worth asking for the clips. I don't have his contact details but he is the JEC tech advisor so his details will be on their website

Thanks David,
It was a very brief stand-up conversation while he was being hassled by other punters so I may have misunderstood.
I'll do some ringing around when back in the UK

Interior trim changes in 1963

I talked to one of the trim companies at Stoneleigh recently about getting material for a beige retrim on my Sept 1963 OTS and they mentioned that around then the embossing of the material changed, and that the original was not available. I got the impression they were talking specifically about the...

Alan - I recently removed the sump on my tank and used this rubber washer from Ken Jenkins with no issues when I replaced it. http://tinyurl.com/mhj2my7 . It is likely the same one that you got from other suppliers but worked fine for me. I found it difficult to judge how tight it was as there is a ...

Carsten - the 4.2 starter is a surprisingly complicated device which has a clever mechanism for when the teeth don't mesh first time. There is a very detailed description in the workshop manual and it will be worth going through that and checking the adjustment and current draws before fitting. Once...

In fact I have bought a couple of minor items from the Halfords Professional range and found them to be (surprisingly) good quality.
By contrast the last Britool tool I bought was pretty poor.
So I guess the moral is - handle them and if they seem good buy them regardless of manufacturer.

Re: How much can I hone my clutch slave cylinder?

Jon - I would expect that the seal could take up a substantial increase in bore size, probably more than you have the patience to reach with a hone. I doubt anyone can give an absolute answer as it will depend mostly on the dimensions and flexibility of the replacement seal which will vary wildly wi...

. The mass of the car effectively dangles from sixteen spokes at a time, Or, at least on bicycle wheels, equally effectively stands on the very few spokes at the bottom that experience a reduction in tension (which is not the same as experiencing compression). It may be a bit semantic but there has...

Re: Wiper-bosses ?

Rory - I needed to replace just one of the end splines some time ago. The splined boss and the plate it is fixed to (that in turn bolts to the rack) is unique to the E, as far as I could find. The spline itself however is used on various cars, but it looks difficult to replace as it is peened into p...

Im also missing the thermal cut-out that attaches to the side of the housing. Is this obtainable or do I need to resort to an external one?
