Re: Wiper Motor 5-way connector block clamp C2796

Rory There are only 5 wires that need to be connected, the sixth (black) is an earth which can have a ring terminal secured to one of the wiper mounting bolts. originally it used a bullet connector as shown above but the repro connectors are too thick so either source an original or make your own br...

Re: Smell in cockpit of S3 OTS

The biggest culprit is the interface between the fresh air volute (bit with the fan in) and the rubber seal on the air intake. This is usually caused by the (reproduction) heater/volute assembly not being aligned properly during manufacture. The heater box is usually perfectly level as it is bolted ...

Re: World Car-Free Day

Went with my wife to look at new bathroom furniture in the Range Rover. Collected 911 from local Porsche specialist after replacing all four dampers. Took it on a test drive to confirm the work. Took E-Type to supermarket for some wine. In a salute to Car-free Day I intend to further test the 911, e...

55,000 since restoration in 1999 mostly through Europe. This year 5 miles  through other priorities, having fun in the 911 and dismal weather.

Re: Parts quality!?

I am not an administrator here but I could imagine if we have at least 10 people wanting such a chapter, David (have taken Steve out as he is a moderator), could install it and we could all upload our faulty parts. How is that idea? It is not to blame the supplier, but to avoid frustration for ever...

For classic Porsche's we are fortunate in that the Factory, courtesy of their Porsche Classic business, still produce parts - they all fit perfectly and are a joy to work with. They have invested heavily but as a result the part costs are quite high but you get what you pay for - think £500 per shoc...

Re: Correct length of the battery cables?

it will also depend on which way you intend to mount the battery. Originally the terminal posts were at the back, under the heater box, but that makes removal difficult so many owners mounted them the other way around. It also depends on which battery you intend to use as many makers no longer suppl...

That sentiment could just as easily apply to Jaguar both in period and now!

Re: Weird electrical issue

Suggest you consider fitting a mechanical brake light switch. Easy to do and you can leave the hydraulic switch in circuit. Details in the upgrade Forum or you can buy a kit from the usuals.

Re: How hot should it run

Has the car been fitted with tubular exhaust manifolds rather than the Factory cast manifolds? The tubes radiate a lot of heat and can blister paint on the frames and the bonnet. They also cause a torque dip reducing performance.

Re: Independent inspection

A couple of small cosmetic things - the SU caps should all be black plastic and the HT leads should be in a conduit. The Jaguar logo on the oil filler cap should be black or unpainted. Hideous steering wheel and centre boss. All these parts are easily available from SNG Barratt. You could ask Angus ...

Re: Wiper Motor 5-way connector block clamp C2796

The C.2796 bracket is used for the 5 way headlamp connector on RH side of bonnet and C.2532 bracket for the 8 way connector on the LH side of the bonnet. The S2 uses bracket C.1040/14 to secure the wiper harness to the bulkhead.

That is the wrong bracket Rory! From our 'Factory Fit' thread: Part #C17435 Fixing strap for 5 way connector block #3571 on screen wiper cable. Re: Galvanic coating of the Dunlop "C" cylinders

Quite a few places in the US, every street corner in India! Very difficult in Europe although if you look east there will be places. Personally, unless it is on OBL, I would say it is not worth the trouble or expense. CMC did an early OTS and cad plated everything, including all the handbrake parts ...
