Re: HELM Jaguar E Type 300hp Restomod - Review
It may even technically be illegal to remove them Not sure that's the case. My Fulvia had been fully 'de-bumpered' and it never got pulled up over this in umpteen MOTs. In any event, all E-types are MOT exempt these days, so I guess it would be something of a moot point anyway. There's maybe a 'mod...
Re: Clock
Joe Don't believe everything you read. The S2 battery clock is very dependable and reliable - certainly I've got wristwatches that are less accurate! When fitted in its place there's an adjustment screw top right, and with a bit of trial and error you should soon get it accurate to within no worse t...

Re: ASM Classics
Much appreciated! Funnily enough they're just around the corner from where I've been having my Lancia serviced for years

ASM Classics
Anyone any experience/knowledge of these folk? http://www.asmclassics.co.uk/ In terms of time/distance they'd probably be the closest people to me (they're at Brands Hatch). No intention of switching from my usual people, but it's always handy to know where your nearest E-type people are in case of ...

Re: Carmen red original colour shade
I agree with Christopher. Real Carmen Red is surprisingly more 'brickish' (orange) than you might imagine. And in many ways, although a Carmen Red E-type is about as close to my definition of 'the definitive article' as you can imagine, viewed in the flesh the colour is actually a little 'odd' espec...

Re: Brexit Bonus!
Much like in the UK the Police have a finite amount of time to prosecute. Two weeks in the UK, 350 days in Italy; no idea what it is in France. Well all I'd say is, beware the small print. As we all know, PCNs issued in respect of fixed camera violations have to be served within 28 days of the cont...

Re: £300K Series 3 anyone ?
Yes, sorry, Steve's right. Historic Class vehicles are exempt. I was getting mixed up with my Lancia (not 'Historic' for another eight years) - although oddly when I punch the E-type's number plate into the TfL checker it comes up telling me I have to pay

Re: £300K Series 3 anyone ?
You should just come up as 'non-ULEZ compliant' and therefore needing to pay the £12.50 daily charge. I can't see anywhere any proposal to prevent you coming in (impossible to police, and why would they anyway - this way they line the pockets of TfL!)

Re: Brexit Bonus!
All well and good, but if you're at all sensitive to such things, I'd recommend taking your own preferred brand of gloves and 'lube' to give to the nice Douanier when you subsequently return to France and the ANPR scans your numberplate as you roll down the ramp......

Re: £300K Series 3 anyone ?
Well as chance would have it, I live a stone's throw from Brixton, and bit by bit any car ownership is becoming a right royal pain the ar*e. In addition to all the myriad bus lanes, and cameras, and charging zones that we've grown to know and love, the arrival of the pandemic has given local council...

Ahhh.... the return of that thing familiar to every E-type owner: light bulbs that blow as soon as you go anywhere near them!

Re: Classic Motoring Magazines.
It's the S2 owner's lot in life
Console yourself with the thought that when those self-same magazines highlight the E-type's shortcomings, most of those were addressed with the introduction of the S2

Re: Rear view mirror
As yours is a 1970 FHC it would have definitely had the stick-on mirror attached to the windscreen. The mounting holes were carried over on the header rails even though they were no longer used. They make it possible to retro-fit an S1 mirror to an S2 car if you feel so inclined, and there was a dis...
