Re: Christopher Storey

What sad news. As others have said he was a friendly and helpful person as I know from my own exchanges with him. Wishing his family my sincere condolences. RIP Christopher.

Re: Will Lucas 39415 Ignition switch fit S2?

That looks like what I had to use to replace an old switch on my S2. However a bit of searching under the Lucas code can find them on fleabay or other suppliers for eg MG parts at much lower price. I assume your steering lock works well and all you want to do is add a new switch?

Re: Non matching cylinder head?

Ash, is this an S1 car or S1 engine? Cylinder heads can have been changed during the life of a car, maybe a problem with the head gave reason to change it. Are you trying to get the car or engine at a better price because of this none matching? If it’s the car then the far more important thing is th...

Rory, please report back after you’ve read Hooker’s book. Bedtime reading for you  Christopher, Simon P...

Re: E-Type S1 4.2 DHC full restoration

Alan, welcome to the best place for all things E Type. Steve (mgcjag) has pointed you towards the restoration section, a great place to start. Be very careful of shot blasting as it can be very easy to distort panels, especially the bonnet. Many have resorted to a combination of paint stripper and a...

If you look at the JEC website they have a Swiss contingent. https://jec.org.uk/regions/switzerland
They could be another way of trying to contact the owner.

Good luck

Re: Seat serie2 into serie 1

Mich, if it’s a problem of leg room, have you got or tried a smaller steering wheel, 15 inches instead of the standard 16? It helps as I found.

Are you wanting to fit S2 seats instead of the MX5 seats? Is that why you asked the original question?

Good luck

Re: Seat serie2 into serie 1

Mich, my understanding is that the S1 4.2 seats are essentially the same as on the S2 car, although the later seats on the S2 had headrests. Is your plan to fit S2 seats? If so, why not consider doing the proper upgrade (one of the few beneficial upgrades) and fit MX5 seats? They really are more com...

Dave, hats off to a neat and useful mod. I’m fortunate that our S2 has the gas strut to hold the bonnet up otherwise would follow your example.

Mark, are you planning to do all this work yourself or ask an engine shop to do some or all of it? CMES are well respected and near you https://cmesuk.com/ Fitting liners would need someone like their help. Search for “liners” on here. As has been suggested on here, if you’re getting liners from say...

Welcome to the best place for all things E Type. Please add your name and car to the signature area (click on arrow next to your user name top right) it’ll mean people can answer in a much more polite way and know which model you have to correctly give relevant advice. As has been said above, don’t ...

Mark, a brief search for “master” then search those results for “brake” and then for “leak” will give you previous experiences of similar problems and what has been suggested or done to sort out the problem. You’ll find some comments about checking the bore first to see if there are problems. Hopefu...

Pablo, the knowledge base is your friend. In there you’ll find a section for paint codes. When you find one of the old BRG references there then a modern paint company will be able to match it.

It would be helpful, see Layne comment, to add your name and car type to the signature area. Look at your user name top right and click on the down arrow to do that. Also, you have an American flag but you’re in the UK, how about changing that? Again it helps others give appropriate advice and help....
