Case study: How was the E type conceived?

Can anyone recommend a book or other texts exploring the process of how the E type was conceived and developed, as a creative process and an example of visionary leadership? A new colleague and friend of mine is a leadership coach who worked with Steve Jobs among others, and he saw my car for the fi...

Re: Roller release/throwout bearing

I believe Jeremy's engine was rebuilt by Rob Beere. It certainly is a very smooth sounding and operating engine. I shall PM Jeremy to ask if RB fitted the clutch and if he has any info of which release bearing. Geoff Geoff is correct, RB did mine, lock stock and barrel, i.e. engine clutch and gearb...

Re: New Member

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the differences between driving the E-Type and DB5 Andrew. I’ve heard the DB5 is a lot more vintage in driving style but is still quick. Cheers, Marcus I Had a DB5 years ago, sold it to buy our house. Along with the E Type it was a car I had been obsessed with as a...

"Ill Wind"...their wonderful song about Flanders learning to play the horn, but finding it stolen was unable to give a performance. With apologies to Mozart.

Re: Ethanol in fuel carbs take a look

Anyone got any ideas on a filter that is better at catching rust from entering the carbs? I'll tell you what else is helpful in keeping rust out of the carbs Andrew: disconnecting the breather pipe from the air intake plenum. Angus's boys discovered some minute fragments of rust in one of the intak...

Re: 1965 COUPE STOCK REAR SPRINGS AND SHOCKS NOT SNG

I believe CMC had their own springs made as they were unhappy with the specs of others out there and as are close as you will get to the originals. I bought the CMC springs for my restoration on that understanding. Ride height is spot on, comfort and handling (with the Boge shocks) are excellent.

Re: Rare S1 wiper delay/hazard/fan override module

Congratulations Steve! Top notch job! You certainly nailed the escutcheon lettering challenge....it's always good to discover that one is not alone.... The Retronics wiper unit is clearly superior and I would definitely have used it had I discovered it. And your pull switches look totally correct. R...

Jeremy, my car was manufactured on the 3rd May 1967 and therefore very close to your April 1967 FHC.
We are only 8 days apart Dave. My date of manufacture is 25 Apr, chassis no 1E21509.

Re: FACTORY FIT - Series 1 4.2

So, we do have 4 different knobs already. Some more out there with an original gear knob? I would love to contribute as mine is 25 Apr, chassis no 1E21509, and retains its unquestionably original knob; but 103,000 miles (also unquestionable) of caressing have taken their toll, and the extremities o...

Re: S1 Original brake performance

"Danny did you upgrade all round or just the fronts?" Just the fronts. I upgraded my brakes with Zeus - a moderate and unobtrusive upgrade with cast iron twin front calipers and new rear cylinders (no vented discs or sharp-edged alloy calipers). The man at Zeus emphasised the importance to me of ke...

Grateful thanks and hearty congratulations from me too. I have no idea how I would have restored my car without SNGBs astonishingly comprehensive range of spares. Website and comms are first class. Any issues I have had with individual parts have invariably been received courteously by Julian's staf...

Ray, you have made your point already in another similar post; and I take exception to your repeated sweeping generalisation that "E type specialists think we are all multimillionaires". There might be some like that out there, but the ones I have dealt with are deeply knowledgeable, experienced in ...

Re: The 5 Speed is here……..

I'm sorry but I just can't get excited by a 5 speed gearbox. My BMW has an 8 or possibly 10 speed box, paddle shifters, the lot, and I have no involvement whatever with it. I have come to love the somewhat archaic feel of that magnificent XK engine pulling the car strongly away in the rather tall fi...

Re: Horn stopped working

Forgive me Danny when I ask, did you check the fuse? I only mention it because I blew my horn fuse when I did about 3 quick toots on my horn to point out to another motorist that he'd been driving down the motorway with his indicator permanently on. I know the horns take a big current and perhaps th...

Re: Leaking fuel tank pickup plate

Thanks Geoff, interesting. Looks like v high quality stuff, and presumably not cheap. But as Angus was very clear that he does not use any sealant in this particular location, I'm going with his advice. He's currently on a "zero leaks" quest with his own car, methodically identifying and addressing ...
