Re: Indicators & warning lights.
Have you tried disconnecting the reverse light again to see if that circuit is causing the problem or that something may have been knocked/nudged etc. when you connected it up.

Re: Chrome dashboard gauge surrounds/rings
a brushed aluminium look might suit the S2 better as the steering wheel and gear gator surround is a brushed effect.

Re: Chrome dashboard gauge surrounds/rings
Fashions, styles and tastes change over time. I'm sure I've seen some pictures of it done. At the end of the day, it is YOUR car. The majority of cars tend to get personalised in one way or another, even something minor like swapping bulbs for LEDs, electric aerial instead of a static one etc etc. A...

Re: Fuel tanks
The C.32888 is quite easy to identify as it has extra pipes on it for the vapour return. Could you add the car to your signature, it will make it easier to identify what is correct for you in future. There were a number of changes for the 1970 cars.

Re: Fuel tanks
From the info that I have, on the Series 2 there was C.19801 Petrol Tank Assembly (vented petrol cap) Fitted up to Chassis Nos. 1R.1067 1R.7992 OTS 1R.20118 1R.25523 FHC 1R.35797 1R.40667 2+2 and (about March 1969) the top part of the Petrol tank was changed. C.24760 Petrol Tank Assembly (vented pet...

Re: Cork gaskets
The change in the breathing of the tank is only within the S2 model run, there were 3 different tanks, two vented via the cap and the third came in with the EX/EM engine air filter changes to allow for fuel vapour to be returned to the tank.

Blower motor spindle
I've just been doing some clean up work on the blower motor and replaced the brushes. Does anyone have any tips on getting the spindle back in the guide at the top? There is a 3 pronged guide to get spindle into. https://i.postimg.cc/yxTzR1P1/IMG-1576.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/NfgtcXs5/IMG-1577.jpg

It depends. Does it have any play in it? Otherwise just a cosmetic refurb should be fine.

Re: Tyres
Very happy with my Vredstein winter tyres. They've performed for me the last 3 winters. They are 205s though. No 185s were available except for small van/light commercial specifications which wouldn't be a good ride. In the UK if you fit winter tyres you must tell your insurance company because they...

Re: Flushing out coolant system
Quite a strong solution of kitchen / dishwasher descaler, run it up to temp, let it sit for a week before flushing with a high pressure hose. This may have a limited effect on passages that are completely blocked. The descaler can only nibble at the ends of the blockage, rather than softening it alo...

Re: Horn wiring & lighting relay mod questions
I was just talking about this very thing today. After 7 months in place under the sugar scoops, my high beam relay failed and I was about to add this to the upgrade thread. From this experience I certainly advocate the added benefit from being in a waterproof enclosure under the sugar scoops or inde...

I feel your pain and frustration Rory. If you don't get any further with the remediation it may be time to get some professional advice on how to proceed. There are a couple of very good law firms around who specialise in classic car issues. Wilmot's who represented Mr Tuke in the recent JD Classics...

I had a good long chat with Al at the end of the show yesterday. Great to meet him and hear about what's coming with William Haynes on board. I met William last year and had a great conversation about some of the unique records he has from his grandfather. Regarding rust from Darren's post above. My...

It can be fitted to an existing one. Aldridge in Wolverhampton can do this although they don't tend to fit them when they do new hood trimming unless it is specifically requested - basically because some people don't like the stitching that can be seen. David's suggestion of glueing the "S2 patch" i...

I'm really glad you posted Andrew and that you are one of the few who have been lucky enough to experience this wonderful car, and may you keep doing so as long as you can. Very much looking forward to the next issue of PC.
