Re: Help wanted - Problem with registering in Italy - Mangoletsi Jenvey modifications

Would it be possible to not register it as a "historic vehicle" - just a normal vehicle?

Re: Refurbishing door handles/locks

You can change which key the barrels take by swapping around the parts in the barrel. If you want to get really original, you can ask Jaguar Classic parts (not Heritage), which key numbers your car originally came with. Here is an email I received from them. -----------------------------------------...

Re: Hardura Panels

Hi Stephen It sounds like you have read what most of the options are. Glue, velcro and Rory's method of magnets on covered board. It's personal preference really and dependent on your own confidence/capabilities. My preference would be Rory's method of covering a board with magnets on the back to ho...

Re: Boot release will not open?

If I understand correctly, it sounds like the catch is releasing as the boot is coming up an inch. It could be that some of your luggage has moved during the drive and are preventing the hinges from moving fully. The normal boot opening issues have a couple of possibilities as follows but it sounds ...

Re: 1970 Series 2 OTS - Subwoofer

I find it doesn't work so bad above the passenger footwell. The rear bulkhead in an OTS is a no no due to the wind turbulence.

Re: Difference btw US and European spec’s

You will definitely need to change the distributor if you change the carbs and want it running correctly. The water return pipe to the water pump is also different. It is a T piece on the US cars to cater for the secondary inlet manifold cooling circuit. And of course the inlet manifolds are differe...

Re: FM/DAB radio reception

I don't think I would notice the difference with the top down  We all use it for different things. Some want to listen to the news or a radio 4 program, so it isn't always about the sound quality or even stereo in some cases. FM is being turned off in some parts of the world and it is still ...

Re: Serious brake bleed issues

I remember that once when the garage were bleeding the brakes, they had a devil of a job. Pressure systems, traditional method etc. etc.

Only when we created vacuum did the system bleed properly and the whole thing was done in minutes. Just a thought for you.

Re: Water pump

xks.com made up new water pumps with new castings for all the variations. They have now been bought out by Moss. I emailed Moss to see if they are making some of these parts available in the UK market. They have no current plans to do so "en masse" but will provide quotes for supply to the UK if you...

Have a look around on some of the forums. "good car DAB+ aerial" etc. etc. You should be able to get some recommendations for your exact requirements.

Re: DAB radio for 1974 E type.

I use a windscreen mounted with mine. It goes vertically. You get one in the box with many DAB+ radios these days. That one didn't have the greatest reception and I changed it and put in a ZEMEX DAB / DAB+ antenna which has been a big improvement. The best is always a body mounted aerial and a winds...

Re: The Great MoT Confusion

I too waited for the Tax renewal notice from the DVLA (for my GT6), and then couldn't sort out this MOT exemption business. Ended up calling them and they fixed it all straightaway in a couple of minutes. Sometimes it's just simpler to speak to someone. I know the online system should work correctly...
