New member, propeller shaft issue

I am a new member. I have a 1971 2+2 4.2 series 2 jag. I have a propeller shaft that has rubber sleeve over the spline end. Having trouble trying to remove it to replace with newer one. ?

If it is not cracked or otherwise deteriorated, I would leave it on and keep your new one as a spare. If it really needs replacement, just cut it off with a knife along its length
