Really pleased to be here.
#1 Really pleased to be here.
Hi all.
I thought that I would now introduce myself having just bought a 1963 series 1 FHC E-type.
The car will be arriving this Sunday (1st October) and I can't wait.
It is an original rhd matching numbers car in its original carmen red and has a lot of service history going back many years. It has also been subject to a lot of upgrades based on the "Eagle" e-type that the previous owner has carried out during his ownership. These include a lightened and balanced flywheel, gearbox upgraded to a four speed syncro box, new alloy radiator and alloy header tank, brakes upgraded to 4.2 e-type spec with vented front discs and 4 pot callipers, upgraded front and rear roll bar, fully poly bushed all round, Spax adjustable shocks all round plus a lot more similar Eagle upgrades
I say that it is a matching numbers car but although it has its original engine the head fitted at the moment is from a 1962 3.8 engine as there was a problem with the original head back in 2011. This 1962 head was purchased from one of the mechanics that worked on the Ken Baker racing e type and this particular head came from "7 CXW".
The original head comes with the car with valves, rocker covers etc and my intention is to have it fully refurbished and reunited with the engine. Also included in the purchase was a pair of high lift racing cams that I am debating whether or not to have fitted when the head is reconditioned. I have heard that the tick over may suffer as a result of having high lift cams fitted and I am not particularly keen on this.
Sorry if this, my first post, is a bit long winded but I cannot help being excited by my new eagerly awaited arrival.
Perhaps someone on here might have a bit more information regarding my car or know of any of its previous owners>
Looking forward to being part of this great forum.
Steve

Well, we're really pleased to have you here. It sounds like you have a great car and I have no doubt that you will find the members here friendly, very knowledgeable and very willing to help with any problem. No matter what you may find troubling, someone here has undoubtedly dealt with the same or similar problem and will have an answer for you. I'm sure that each of us remember the excitement like an 8 year old boy as Christmas approaches as we waited the final days before our pride and joys arrived, so we can relate to your anticipation.

Steven, welcome to the forum and good news about getting an E Type.
Sadly you've fallen foul of the photobucket madness, if you look elsewhere you'll see that imgur is now recommended. It'll be nice to see what you new car looks like.
Nothing wrong with your long introduction, it's good to hear about what has been done to cars, including yours.
Keep us posted of your first impressions of ownership and don't be shy of asking for help.

Sorry guys. I did not realise that you could not see the pictures that I posted as I can see them on my post.
I have downloaded Imgur so could someone please tell me if that works?
Thanks
Steve

Yes, that worked. Stunning looking car. Carmen Red and black trim is how mine left the factory. Classic colour scheme.
Welcome to the forum. Let's hope you get a few good driving days before winter descends.

Now then, Steve,
What a cracker. I was especially salivating over the engine photo; absolutely stunning.

A very lovely car, welcome to the forum from another 3.8 FHC owner. What is the chassis number as a matter of interest? I am guessing somewhere in the 900s Any information on its original ownership an background?

Hi Steve
I was interested to see that you had a head from 7 CXW. Do you know the number?
I am interested to know if it was the original head or another one that had been used on the car.
I am interest as I own the car.
Hope you are enjoying your fixed head.
What is the registration / chassis number for your car? It might be one that I have owned in the past.
All the best, Paul.
