Hello everyone,

i'm now joining this forum but i have the pleasure to own an E-Type 2+2 series 3 since april this year.
I bought it as a restoration project and what i can say is that as usual (as the 2 previous french cars i renovatedà it takes lmuch longer that expected..... but it's a lot of surpise (mainly bad) and a lot of fun. So far the best moment i had with my jag is yesterday when i turn the ignition key and heard this amazing V12 singing§§§§ that was just waowwwwww !
When i bought it teh engine was runing but it was laking everywhere smoking black, black, black ! and the engine could not go high in revs. I have removed the engine and reworked everythin form the bottom to the air filter. I also took the opportunity to rework the from suspension, steering, heater, seals,....... and also remove and restore rear axle.
The next step is to restore all interior and polish the paint (propably resprayed 5 to 10 year ago). A lot of fun ahead.
Cheers
Regards

Your car looks in pretty good condition, more photos and details are most welcome around here, and of course all questions. I am no connaisseur of S3, but there are very knowledgeable fellows around who will be eager to help.
Where in France are you based?

Thanks for your encouraging message.
Yes in fact i bought the car in Netherland, it was imported from US. I guess the previous owner started the renovation by the biody it's why it's in pretty good conditions. There are little scratches but i guess with a good polishing it will look pretty nice. In fact i have understood afterward why he sold the car. The engine was runnign but was not running well and it was smoking like hell. When i reworked the engine i discovered that the B cylinders bay was set exactly as the A bay (cam shaft 1/2 turn wrong and therefore even if there were no interferences the engine was running on 6 cylinders !!!!!
The Rear axle has been completly reworked too.
I had few rusty spots and few holes in the wheelarches but nothing dramatic for a 45 years old car.

I think i'l going to order this week the full trim kit to Lakewell.

I'm from Beauvais 60 kms noth of Paris. Not far from belgium ;-)

Welcome Jerome from another ex US S3 owner. You are making great progress. What year is your car, my guess from what I can see is 1972.

I won't clutter up your thread with pictures of my car but it is a 1971 2+2 Old English White with Cinnamon Interior - in fact I have very few pictures of the whole car, but many pictures of details as I slowly work my way through it!
