#1 Hi to you all - new member

Post by MarkRado » Fri Jan 26, 2018 10:22 am

Hi to you all and thank you for the warm Welcome!
I am a regular visitor to the Forum and thought I should also start contributing a little bit through my 30 years experience with an Etype (huh, getting old - me , not the car).
This is also the moment to praise the forum's in depth- knowledge, which is second to none and surely is (or at least should be) source of many a professional restorers knowhow.
I am looking forward to many interesting and entertaining postings!
Yours,
Mark

Mark, welcome to the forum. Lots of friendly help and advice on here.
First thing though, how about some photos and a bit more history of your car

So here goes my story:
My father was into classic cars having restored a Healey 3000; when market and prices started to rise in the mid 80's, the Etype found me in form of a metallic blue 3.8 from US with hardtop, almost no brakes and no first gear, but surprisingly matching numbers (though not important then to me). The nut and bolt restoration started immediately.
She was back on the road in 1990, took us to Italy, France, England etc and, having done 50.000 mi, proved to be a very reliable car to date (provided love and care given continously). A part of the 30 years with the Etype are repairs, restorations and slight improvements, which I do myself. This is very rewarding to me and makes it more a relationship rather than just owning a car - but I think that's the case with most of us here on the forum. Enough words, here are some photos:

Welcome along. Great photos and good to see you drive and maintain her yourself. Where in Austria are you? I am often in Tirol with mine.

   of course! DaveJaguar is down in your region, and I've promised to pay him a visit. He did a large number of youtube blogs on his eType restoration if you haven't seen them.
