#1 Time to say goodbye

Post by skiday » Thu Feb 08, 2018 12:50 am

Well, as there is only a welcome section and not a goodbye section I guess this perhaps the bast place to post this.

I'm afraid that after 9 years of ownership of my glorious 1968 E-type S1.5 2+2, she is now sold and I will be delivering it to its new owner on Friday. It's been a long journey in which I've learnt a lot, mostly from this forum and I would like to say a very big thank you to all those who have contributed to threads I have started and I have enjoyed the banter in all other threads. Long may this forum continue, just as long as the cars themselves, which could be a very long time indeed.

I have been pampering the car and making sure it's up to standard. I stripped and painted the rear wheel arches and even after agreeing the sale I found little patches of surface rust under the floor under the boot, so even though I won't get a penny more I stripped the whole area to white metal and painted with epoxy primer / stone chip / base coat / 2K lacquer. I think it shows that I don't really want to see her go, in fact I got a little tearful at one point, but as George Harrison said "All Things Must Pass".

So as the falling blue whale said "Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish" {Hitch-hiker's Guide}.
Cheers :drinkingcheers:
