Hello everyone. I have been an E-type owner in Western Canada for over 25 years. Thought it was time to join the forum instead of just lurking and reading all the posts. I retired 8 years ago and am finally getting around to restoring the 2 e types and one xk 120 that have been taking up garage space. Maybe a race with the grim reaper. Hope I win. Between this forum and Jag Lovers I think that answers to most problems will be available and hopefully people will be patient with my questions. Geoff.

Welcome. If you win the race and have time, my E type needs a polish.

Well done Geoff, and welcome. That’s what retirement is all about; getting your teeth into a project(s) to keep the grey cells active! Look forward to seeing some photos as your projects progress.

Welcome Geoff

Don't you think that 2 E Types AND an XK120 is a little greedy?

Good luck with the race.
Stuart

Stu. Not so much greedy as poor impulse control! A little history. I bought the first e back in the early nineties. It is the 4.2ots
that I am working on now. I was seduced by the car and didn’t realize that it was really a pos car that had a previous restoration done very poorly. Typical sob story. After driving it for a year I realized that it was really a death trap and had to be either totally redone or parked. I was working 6 days a week in my career and had 2 small children so restoration was not an option. Then I was at an auction and a rhd 3.8 coupe was available. It was also a restored car (slow learner) but was basically solid and safe. (As much as an e can be safe) . I was the happy winner for a pretty good price. Did a bit of work on it and it has been my fun car ever since. Has been dependable but the panel fit etc is not good and the engine is starting to get tired. Lays down a pretty good smoke screen now on hard acceleration. I will drive it till the ots is done. Being rhd is a bit of a challenge in Canada but it is legal and I will keep it that way. The xk120 fhc happened due to a weak moment on ebay. No regrets really as it is a basically rust free and solid car. Engine does not match but it is a c-type engine from 140 so I will call it an upgrade. I think I will do the 120 after the 4.2 and before the 3.8. I have included a picture of the ots as it was yesterday. Getting as much of the non original sheet metal out as I can and opening up all the box sections to get ready for media blasting. Any recommendations on type of media to use would be appreciated.

Tried to post images from my ipad but did not work. Is there a trick to it?

When you click on the blue "P" "add image to post", you will get a choice to re-size. If you don't, it doesn't seem to work for most pics (file size too big) If you choose the size shown for a 19 inch monitor, it seems to work.

Retry on the pics. Mounted on rotisserie and ready to take to the blasters when the weather improves. I have had no response to my question about recommendations for media type. Should I be posting that under a different forum heading?

Hi Geoff...your question probably got glossed over....either search for blast media or just post a question in General or technical....Steve
