Mitch here!
I am building an E-type as a streetable vintage racer, essentially as one would build in 1965.
I am having a terrible time finding the torque spec for the front stub axle nut (disassembled for plating)
Anyone know this spec?

Thanks!

Thank you-
It is a nice chart

So, just for clarification, I use standard mechanical values based on bolt size type.
I expected there to be a specific factory torque for this bolt.
Regards,
Mitch

Hi Mitch...please give us some details of what you are building...are you starting off with an E type and modifying it ........or creating an E type from other vehicles/parts......as far as im aware there are no torque charts specifically for S1 or S2 cars...there is one for S3 cars in the Jaguar S3 service manual....what model is the upright from....it only has the 2 lugs to bolt the caliper onto and not a third for the steering arm as i would expect on an E type.....it looks identical to the ones on my S1 XJ6.....the torque figuer in the S3 manual is 97-107lb.ft and in the XJ6 manual 90-110lb.ft Steve

Great observations, and thanks for the information

I have had my 1969 E type since 1981- when I was 17
It has been my daily driver at times, and has suffered all sorts of abuses over the past 37 years, but I kept it.
We have had several adventures together, and now, I want to make it right

I am planning on back-dating it to look like a 1965 car, as period correct as a race/street car as possible.
I'm planning to run a few SCCA vintage races (I'm not looking to be competitive, just have some fun)

I race an E Production Porsche 944s in the Florida region- Sebring, Daytona, Palm Beach, Homestead
and also do some Chump car in a Miata (www.cincodemayhemracing.com)

Several years ago I exchanged the uprights to run big sedan brakes, which I plan to use for the project
(Terry's Jag)

I am rebuilding the body (It is striped, disassembled and in process)
and sub assemblies, (suspension, steering column, dash, etc) simultaneously

I work on a sub assembly or do homework when I have an hour or two, and work on the body when I have a day to spend!

I think this forum will be extremely valuable to me
Thanks!
