Hi, I have a 1967 Series 11/2 e type convertable. I have had it since 1978, and had it rebuilt in 1998 ( if I remember correctly) since then up until today it had only covered 180 miles since the rebuild. Today son no. 1 took it down to Rugby from Scunthorpe, it’s first long trip since 1978. He has just phoned to say it never missed a beat. Now having fully retired I hope to use it more myself. I find it heavy on the steering and was considering having power steering added to it. It did cross my mind to see if I could swap it for a series 3 automatic which would make for a much more relaxing drive.

Mike, welcome to the forum, though shame on you for so few miles done.
Out of interest which tyres do you have (and how old are they?). Some people have been known to fit 205/70 VR15 tyres which make for much heavier steering than the correct 185VR15s
There are companies who offer electric power steering, that might be an option for you, look in the technical knowledge section for names.
Now get out in that car yourself and enjoy it, there's so much torque in the 4.2 engine you hardly need to change gear so you don't need an automatic

And welcome from me too! After all those years, the tyres will need changing anyway if they haven't been already. So do go for the 185s
Quite a few people have gone for the electric steering, and apparently it works well.

Tyres are definitely 185s, will be going to Longstone tyres in near future for some Pirelli CA67s
Looking at EX power steering, but they are 300 miles away and it takes them a few days to fit
