Greetings!
I’ve often perused these forums in the past and have been impressed at the level of technical advice and how helpful and friendly everyone seems to be.
This is my first post here.

I have just purchased an E type series 2 from a conscientious forum member (not this forum).

I did lots of reading and cross referencing at xkedata.com etc.

I’m new to the E type world but not to Jaguars. I worked at Jaguar Cars Ltd at Whitley for 10 years as a mechanical engineer within their powertrain and was involved in the development of the AJ27, AJ33/34/36, AJV6 , AJ133 and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage (AJ37)-which I had a lot of influence of by leading the design.

I work on all my stuff. My current daily driver for the summer is a 2000 model year Jaguar X308 XJR- where I do all my own work and similarly on my Aston Martin Vantage.
I changed the differential type/design of my X308 XJR from the 8 inch ring gear 14HU diff to the beefier 15HU with Dana 44 internals and an Torsen LSD- and did the work myself. So working on the E type doesn’t scare me. Yes- It has inboard discs but I’m sure I’ll get used to it with the help of folks here.
I’ll have to get to grips with carburation also!

I’m open to tips and always eager to learn.

Welcome!

Put your name and car details in your signature so we know a bit about you.......

I had a AM V8 vantage roadster from new in 2007 and was lucky enough to see it being built in the factory. A lovely car and I still have the personalised door fill plaques with my name on them. Special.

One again, welcome to the forum.

Hi and welcome to the forum. For carburation, you should read the basic handbook that comes with the car. Really good step by step guide. Do you have the handbook? (Small paper one)

Welcome to the forum. This is the workshop manual you'll need:

And if you look in the technical section you'll be able to download pages to print for ready reference. Print pages and put them into plastic sleeves for use in the workshop.

Yes, this is a very friendly and helpful forum and being from the colonies you must accept some gentle teasing from us  . All in good humour. Oh, and remember from your time over here:
Boot not trunk; bonnet not hood; petrol not gas; humour not humor.

Please post photos and keep us up to date on your car and work.

Geoff

I think I have that also.
8-)

I'm not from the colonies, I'm from the UK, born and raised, although I emigrated here about 10 years ago.
I wouldn't have been able to afford to have had so many cars and the space back in the UK.
