#1 welcome

Post by ohope » Fri Jul 19, 2019 8:24 am

Hi;
My name's David - my log in name is "Ohope" - . I live in Sydney Australia for 6months a year and Ohope beach in New Zealand for the remainder ( hence my "Ohope" Tag )

I have an XK150S OTS ( Roadster) which has been fully restored to concourse condition, an XJR 308 series (which I've owned since 2004 and is still sensational to drive) a Porsche 911 993 C4S - 49,000kms from new in 1997- oh - and I nearly forgot!! - a series 2 E-Type 1970, Australian delivery with just 60,000 validated km . The E-type was a deceased Estate found after being stored for 15 years , before I bought it. I had been a little bit neglected and needs a new interior, a paint job sometime , but drives well - best described as " a bit scruffy" . Interestingly it has an electric steel sunroof which was apparently fitted from new. I believe it is unlikely to have been fitted at Browns Lane , so was probably Dealer fitted.

David

Kia ora bro! Your handle "ohope" is familiar; are you on any other car sites?

i know of one other steel sunroofed E. It was made by and fitted by Webasto, had electric operation and used switches that Webasto also used when they fitted sunshine roofs to Rolls Royces.

Do the steel roofs slide all the way back or just tilt? I've seen "tilt only" roofs, (not on an E) and they don't give the same open-air feel. I find the opened Webasto with wind deflector up a great feel with no noise or buffeting.

From the relatively short section of lowered headlining I got the impression that this one only tilted.
