#1 New member in East Anglia

Post by asdioufcido123 » Sat Dec 26, 2020 4:48 pm

Hello,

This is the first post from a new member.

I'm at the stage of just about having stripped everything off my 3.8 FHC in what is likely to be the most thorough of recommissioning tasks.

Tips and advice on reassembly methods will be gratefully received in the coming months.

Hi and welcome,
I have completed a nut n bolt rebuild of a 63 fhc last year and there are many others (both ‘amateur’ and professional) who have done the same. So, plenty of help and photos available on this splendid site!

Thanks Richard,

I'm not far down the coast from you in Lowestoft and my car is a few hundred after yours into the final run of the 3.8's.

It would be great to see some pics of what you have - once you start the work, post them in the ‘Restoration Stories...’ section so we can follow your progress!
If you do a search in that section, you will see all the other 3.8 restorations which will both inspire, motivate and scare you in equal measure!
Are you planning to do the work yourself? Done this before?

Thanks for the direction. I'll take a look in the section you identify Richard.

I have done this type of thing before but it's been a matter of do it and let the pain diminish to a point where you forget about it some years latter and then stupidly do it again.

I'm not an enthusiastic internet user, I'm basically a level above wanting to exist in a log cabin as far from it's reach as possible so "posting pictures" is very unlikely however I'll try and be a participant and load up one or two.

Undertaking the work will be recreation. I obviously shall need to contract out certain elements most noticeably the paintwork and it's planned to have Bridge Classic do this once I can sort the other distractions I wish to conclude. Apart from that electrics, interior and window fitments are the only other aspects I expect to have done.
