I would be grateful for any help - I’m trying to find out if an early Series 1 E-Type owned by my late father Ian Stewart is still alive.
I’m afraid I only have one photograph of it and scant details. From what my father told me, it was supplied via Rossleigh in Edinburgh and was the first car that was on display. He was slightly miffed that it took so long to be delivered to him, especially as by the time he got it the side bolster on the drivers seat was showing signs of wear!
He was a good friend of Lofty England, who asked him to report any faults to him directly. Further than that I’m afraid I know nothing else - colour, registration etc. Many thanks for any information or help possible.

Side bonnet lock so should be easy to track down. No relation to Jackie Stewart whose family owned one ?

Quick scan of XKE data gives 37 and 62 as possible candidates

I have looked at the first 63 chassis numbers and 850037 was apparently registered by Rossleigh as YSF66 in 9/61 . 850062 may have been reg by Rossleigh as 3122SR c. 8/61although typically later on in the xkedata entry another completely different history and registration is suggested ! It is worth following those 2 histories up - most of the rest can be positively excluded
P.S. 37 was apparently opal dark blue ; 62 sherwood green - either could match that photo but of the two i would say the dark blue is more likely

Many thanks for the leads - 850037 might well be the best candidate.

To add, I have found a reference from notes that it was "Met blue, pale blue/greyish upholstery"
So, sounds like the correct car. Many thanks!
