#1 Hello from Belgium !

Post by Phil » Mon Nov 26, 2007 6:41 pm

Hello,

first post to the forum, so I present myself briefly :

I am living in Belgium (Ardennes)and I am the happy owner of a 1972 V12 E-Type (second owner; the first owner registered the car in Toronto,Canada in April 1973). I purchased the car 5 1/2 years ago and cared for a step by step restoration (mostly done by professionals, except for some easier things I could care for myself) allowing me to drive the car with my family (with the exception of one year when the car was undergoing body work).
I enjoy attending classic car events and making pictures of racing E's.
Here is a link to some selected albums of pictures I made over the last years : http://community.webshots.com/user/wasda

Hope to meet E-Type club members and their E-Types

best regards

Hi Philippe,

Good to hear there is a fellow Belgian present. I hope we will meet one day somewhere in Belgium.

Can I ask you already if you would know of a good rechroming company in Belgium .

Sorry for immediately bombarding you with questions but any help would be greatly appreciated.

kind regards
Erik

Hello Erik

I do not know a good rechroming company in Belgium as I have no experience with any so far. Maybe you can ask to people involved with classic cars sales or restorations .Here are two suggestions :

http://www.vdvgrant.be/ or
http://www.bbc-cars.be/

there are certainly more available and most probably you know more
in your area.

best regards
Philippe

Hi Erik, Hi Philippe
It seems that Belgian based E-type people are most active on the web!!

Although I am currently only a restoring member (see www.rustoration.be) I would be interested to meet up also and discuss car related topics. I am in Brussels so maybe between you both? If you want to see the project live at any time that may also be a good meeting option?

Not sure if our e-type club area Rep (in Holland) is planning anything but we can maybe plan a Belgian meet in the summer?

Hello Neil,

congratulations for your progress on the restoration of your E !
Very nice work done so far ! Thanks for sharing on your website.

I would be happy to meet you and Erik in Brussels.
Maybe in spring time when salt/rain etc... will be gone from the roads (at least where I live) if we want to be with the E's. Otherwise, we can try another time . I could on Monday or Thursday evenings as I often drive back from Netherlands , so we couldhave a 19.00 meeting somewhere in Woluwe St lambert if OK for you.

In the summer it would be nice to meet also and there will be occasions for sure : one that is relevant for any E-Type owner (before 1970) is the
"circuit of the Ardennes" commemoration (www.circuit-ardennes.be).
I will certainly join as I did the 2 previous ones. more than 160km drive in the Ardennes with many classic cars !

best regards
Philippe

Hi Philippe
Thanks for your nice comments about the website, unfortunately the Jag has not progressed too much over the last few months due to other commitments.
I did build myself a bead blaster however so things will progress from now on!!

A meeting in WSL would be fine (I work in Zaventem) and I know a couple of places where we could have some good food while we talked cars. Let's see if there are any more takers for a Belgium meet as there seem to be 10 members currently in the e-type club and I am sure there must be more interesting in meeting up.

I will watch this thread.

Hello Neil

OK for me, Iknow WSL also as I grew up there. No other reaction so far.Maybe the info is lost amongst the posts
and we should start a new topic in the general section for a meeting /evening dinner in Brussels to see if we get more reactions.

best regards

Hello Philippe, Erik and Neil,
My name is Dave, I have just posted a short introduction to myself on the Welcome page.

It seems we might all be within striking distance of each other - I'm in the Netherlands South Limburg close to Maastricht. It would be good to get together some time if we can find a suitable opportunity. I don't expect the rebuilding of my car to be finished this year but with a bit of luck (and money) it will be driveable in a few months.

By the way Erik, I had some rechroming done at Cromage Voorspoels in Herenthout near Antwerp. The quality seems good but it took a long time and seemed fairly expensive. I didn't find anything cheaper though, so maybe that was the going rate for this part of the world.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Dave.

Hello Dave,

saw your intro. congratulations for your car and ongoing restoration. Keep up the great work.
I suppose you have met Jos nearby Maastricht !
We are not too far indeed, and if we arrange something to meet in Brussels, it would be nice if you could join also.
There will be other opportunities to meet this year (with/without the E)
as there are classic car races in Spa-Francorchamps 17-18 May and 27-28 Sept. Check your agenda !! :D

best regards

Hello all,

Sorry to be late in replying but I have been away abroad for a bit... Now I am back focusing on really important things such as ...e-type... I just came back from a nice drive in the sun here in Antwerp.

First of all, very nice website on your restoration indeed, good luck !!
secondly, I work in Diegem , near Zaventem, so a meeting should definitly have to work one of these days.

Please keep me in the loop as I look forward meeting up with you all.

Hello Erik

nice to read from you again. Saw you car on xkedata and the pictures you posted, very nice ! I will not be able to attend Autotron tomorrow.

Le's try to fix a evening meeting dinner in Woluwe. Feb is quite busy already for me, but maybe first week of March , Tuesday or preferably Thursday evening around 19.00- 19.30 in Woluwe-Saitn -Lambert.

Erik, Neil, Dave ? any other ? would this be an option for you?

I suggest "les Etangs Mellaerts" near Bouldvard du Souverain (nice brasserie). anyother suggestiosn welcome.

great weather over here, the E will go out :D
