#1 New member from the U.S.A / Tennessee
Hello to all,
New guy here......and as of this week, proud owner of a 1972 Series III XKE - coupe. I have always been fascinated by this vehicle ever since I saw my first one. I was just a child and my neighbor owned a 6 cyl version. I often wonder where it is and who owns that "cat" now.
Well, here I am today, 51 yrs old and I am finally able to acquire my very own. I registered on your forum a few weeks ago before purchasing mine. I then made contact with a fellow forum member - Mr. Peter Crespin. He was kind enough to steer me in my quest. I am very thankful....Thanks Pete !
I as well am looking forward to learning from each and every one of you. In return I hope gain experience and contribute to others to keep these fine classics on the road.
All the best to my new found friends !
Happy New Year !
Wes in Tennessee

Hi Neil,
Well, she is maroon/dark red in color with wire spoke wheels. Straight body with no body filler found. Most importantly - no rust either. I had looked a quite a few jags beforehand and they all exhibited some good corrosion issue...thankfully this one did not.
The car was owned by a local collector unbeknownst to me. It had been stored for some time in a warehouse....imagine a dirty Jay Leno's garage. On initial start up, there was some fuel leakage through the carburetors/air filter. That has now been corrected - sticking needles. All gauges work and she runs like a top. It has a automatic transmission but I'd like to convert that in the near future. I just think a car like this should be manual. As well, I'm not too keen about the series III headlamps. I understand there are conversion kits for the earlier covered version. l am considering this modification too......All in all I am very happy with it.
I do have quite a few photos and have tried to attach them.....too large....I will have to resize them later.
All the best,
Wes

Welcome, Wes. I am up the road from you in KY. I have converted my S2 to covered headlights, so it can be done if you're inclined. This forum is a wealth of information from dozens of sharp owners (you already met one!).
I recommend a thorough read of the Technical Information section, located under the Knowledge Base section of this forum. Its really informative and will get your creative juices flowing.

Thanks Steve / Bob
Can anyone recommend a good mtc manual or set of manuals to get to know this vehicle better ?
Bob, I'm located in the southwest part of the "volunteer state". I've been trying to locate a "jag" club....I was told there use to be one in this area but that was years ago.
