#1 London Cab for Shooting in August

Post by osgii » Fri Aug 04, 2017 9:05 am

Guys,

I hope you're all doing well.

We are actually working on a photoshoot in London during the month of August.
We would like to shoot with an old London cab, but the production team are having a hard time finding a authentic London Cab in a so short period of time and during holidays!

Is there any one of you aware of someone close to London that would be interested in renting his cab for a 1 day shooting?

I'll be on the set and will of course make sure than the car will be well treated :)

Now that Prince Philip has retired maybe his is available? In case you didn't know he has used a black cab for getting around London inconspicuously for quite a few years.

Isn't there a Black Cab association you could contact? http://www.ltda.co.uk/

If you are filming a period drama I am sure cabbies will tell you that you need to say what vintage of old taxi...FX3, FX4, TX1....there have been many iterations of the black cab....if your film is period specific you need someone with the right sort...e types were never black cabs sadly :geek:

Thank's to both of you for your reply.

The period doesn't matter, as we are doing contemporary pictures. We just wanted to have a symbol of London. I think the production team founded one, usually used for wedding I guess :)

There still is old fashioned cabbies in the streets of London? I though only the new ones are diving around these days.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
We are doing a contemporary picture of a business man in London, for a very elegant watch brand.

We want a taxi as an accessories first because taxi + business goes well together (much more difficult to show business + UBER ;). Then because we are in London, and taxies in London are quite famous.

So the period of the taxi has no constrain, except the fact that it will be part of the picture, and therefore need to add values to the overall picture. That's why we came up with the idea not take a new one, as they are far less sexy than old ones.

But we found what we are looking for :) thank's to all for your kind help

osgii, you'll have to post a few photos of what you achieved, plus send a discount voucher against a new watch to each of us who posted suggestions
