An interesting article from people who should know about these things.

I'm not sure that I agree though.

The real crunch may come when some of those that have 'invested' in classic motors (and other physical assets) using borrowed money find they cannot service their debt, nor store and insure their acquisitions. This happened with the XJ220 when it was launched, it has happened to Morgans at various times during night its history, it may yet happen again to 1950s and 1960s iconic sports cars. Something may trigger a collapse. It could be North Korea vs Trump, it could be Davis vs Barnier, or something else none of us have yet thought of.

Be aware the report is based on criterea that's not really comparable to most classic cars or owners ,

Quote

"The classic cars in the Coutts index all needed to sell for more than $500,000, and each of the models needed to have been sold more than 10 times at auction to capture a timeline of prices. Seven of the top 10 are different Ferrari models, with a Mercedes 300 SL, a Shelby Cobra 289 and Aston Martin DB5 making up the rest."

well yes, but anyone who knows their market knows that cars have been soft for 2 years now. Beware its not about to jump again! By the time the "experts" spot it its probably too late to do something about it. As they say in the stockmarket, by the time you can see the bandwagon its just disappearing over the hill.
