Too cold in my workshop so decided to get a heater ...Picked this Indirect oil heater up the other day...2nd hand....small version of whats used to heat marquees....very different to the similar looking oil or lpg space heater......note the flue on top......this heater sits out side the garage and fumes go up through the flue....clean dry hot air comes out of the front......and you duct it into the workspace.....i will fit a thermostat in the workshop that connects via a plug on the heater and will switch it on/off...tried it out today and it really pushes out a huge amount of hot air...20x20 workshop up to 70f in 10 mins....2nd photo shows how a mate has boxed his in.....will have to do this.....Steve

I'm thinking of doing something similar. What output is your heater (Kw or btu) and how well insulated is your garage?

Just bought this for my log cabin and garage: http://tinyurl.com/y4rl5fpx runs off a 12V supply and burns diesel, old engine oil, cooking oil etc. Also requires a 12V supply. £158 new.

A mate bought one for his 8 x 5 mtr garage and reckons its great, heats the place up in no time, I'll find out when I get mine this week.

Hi Dave.....just for info make sure you vent the exhaust to outside....,also be aware that with any of these heaters they can be used inside the space your heating..and because its a burner you can deplete the oxygen in the space so adequate ventilation must be provided......and beware if used inside a garage area that petrol fumes can ignite...also worth considering a CO alarm unless your confident the burner is efficient and exhaust setup is good...Steve
