Aha, great to see that this threads’ still going, bringing out all us closet bikers!

Eddie, that’s a stunning Commando! I’ve ended up with HC flat top pistons in my P11 so she takes a good kick! I’m also 99% sure that beautiful TR6C was one I very nearly went to see at Classic Superbikes but didn’t, now kicking myself!

Andrew, now that looks cool but it’s yet another subject I can’t offer useful advise on!

Paul, beautiful 750S, would love to see that alongside the Commando and P11!

So, the P11s nearer to finished, louder and faster than I thought but still incontinent! My latest, a 72 Guzzi V7 Sport which is riding lovely now after some fine tuning.

Now during these strange times I’ve almost convinced myself I need a crazy 69/70 Kawasaki H1 2 stroke ‘widow maker’ to relive my 2 stroke teens. Nostalgia pre-mixed with 2 stroke oil is a dangerous thing but might be our last chance before the batteries take over!!

Paul mystery type, my apologies, I should use my laptop more than my phone! I bet that’s fun! Never ridden a FWD bike, can you make it lift off oversteer like a 205 GTI??

You just can’t beat a British scrambler even if they were made for the US market. Although I can’t take credit for the resto I have made some significant improvements since I bought it a couple of years ago.
It’s a BSA A10 Spitfire Scrambler from 1962 (same vintage as me) 650cc and fitted with a lighting kit for street use. Sounds fab, just ask the neighbours!

That’s a really nice Spitfire Scrambler Peter. There is something about hi-line exhaust pipes. I am building another Norton P11 Ranger but going to retro fit with the earlier model pipes.

Yes I agree Paul. I previously wasn’t a fan as I thought the non exhaust side looked a bit bare.
I was turned though by a friend who has a trio.
Triumph TR6, BSA A65 and Norton Commando S
Your P11 is a lovely looking machine too. I did consider one before buying my BSA.

Nice. You don’t see many drum-braked Commandos. Always preferred the style of the S to the Interstate but not as practical for long trips.

I wasn't being bashful, just missed this at the time, someone pointed it out to me just recently.

I guess that the post about the 916, just above this, is another nail in the coffin of my youth - when people start collecting the models one used to sell.

But riding those is a bit like driving an E-Type ; unforgettable.

I can still remember the first time we ever un-crated one.

An amazing bike, that changed motorcycle design forever.

Hi Paul,
Yes, the TR6C came from Classic Superbikes. I fitted Boyer ignition. No major issues. Seems to run and ride fine. Still getting used to the right hand gear change. Got the Norton off e-bay when the bad weather set in so not even ridden it yet. Those kwacker triples were king of the road in my teenage days. My Suzuki GT250M was pretty nippy too.

Was lusting after a P11 or a Rickman Metisse, very tempted by the Guzzi's too but thought the Commando would make a nice smooth touring bike if I'm ever allowed out that far (that's other half not Covid!)

The bikes and the E Type are really enjoyable diversions from American muscle cars that I've been collecting and flipping for quite a few years.

Just finished re-commissioning my 1969 Norton Commando 750S.

Bought on eBay as an extended fork chopper with weld on hardtail, silly wheels and no front brake, and rebuilt in restomod fashion more to my tastes. Mudguards are based on BMW /5 pieces, taillamp housing is Singer Roadster, alloy rims, belt drive primary (no leaks!), Tri-spark ignition, lots of bespoke small bits.

Very tasteful Steve. So many don’t get bobber proportions right but I think you’ve nailed it.
