I always enjoyed art & design at school and college and went into automotive design as a profession. From time to time I tell myself I should pick up some brushes, get my a$$ into gear and do some painting again. Anyway, I promised a mate who had helped me with some bike paintwork as well as getting the leather for my re-trim that I would do him a painting of his XK120. So, not wanting to get too carried away, I found two plywood frames in the shed, bought a dozen emulsion tester pots from Wilco’s and made a start!....

I thought I’d try my E Type first for the practice then move onto the XK. It’s probably been 20 plus years but I’ve quite enjoyed it so far. I might have to ask for some decent brushes for my forthcoming birthday and do a bit more!

Fantastic. I am always envious of people with artistic and musical talents.

I also find it fascinating that people can let those talents lie dormant for long periods of time.

Keep it up, please.

Regards

Fabulous work, Paul! I would never have the ability to do free-hand drawing like that. Mine would look vaguely like an E-type, but nowhere near an accurate representation! I can build model kits, but that’s kind of cheating in comparison ;)

If my mate Richard gets his act together and sorts out either his garage or workshop, I’d love to get him a painting like this of his car. I’ll bear you in mind!

Bored so I’ve done a bit more! I’ve made a mess but it’s kept me out of trouble! Wasn’t sure about the backgrounds before so I got brave!

Trying to keep busy I’ve got the emulsion out again but managed not to get it on the walls! Sorry it’s XKs, hope that’s allowed!

Starting to run out of emulsion now! A bit of a cheat with this one as I painted over a print of a photo, but it brings it to life. Running out of wall space unfortunately!

Hi Paul, I really like them. If you are running out of wall space would you do one of my e-type? I would gladly pay for it. Jon

Those Jaguar paintings are out of this world. Do you do commissions?
