Urgent / Help needed in Edinburgh. Anybody near ?

Help needed urgent in Edinburgh-
Hey guys, we flew to Scotland today with Ryanair, and they lost our baggage / there are hundreds of bags all over the place, unfriendly police who know nothing… its a mess. We are now in an appartment at Royal Mile, for this and the next night, and main problem is to get a Euro adapter so we can load our phones to call swissport / Ryanair baggage claims. Any suggestions where to get one ? Many thanks !
At the moment, all we have is what we carry- so no tooth brush, no clothes, nothing.

I found a lost adapter under the bed trying to manipulate a german charger in a brit socket. So we have one now, but had you seen the mess at the airport… 100s of bags in heaps, some having 2 weeks old tags, 700 clueless people, unwilling police, no service no officials no nothing. I am so angry and disappointed…
Problem is we rented a camper for 2 weeks, so lot of money lost if we decide to go home instead. Will go back to airport tomorrow after maybe buying some clothes ? and some food ?

If you need any advice on where to buy stuff I have a friend in Edinburgh who may be able to help, but I wouldn't trust his advice on clothing i hope you get it sorted, and if you’ve got some time to kill i recommend you listen to the excellent podcast - Londongrad

I always live by the mantra "The interruptions make the journey". You will eventually get your luggage back but in the meantime go ahead and enjoy your holiday. Lots of places to buy cheap fashionable clothes and other necessities. Poundland on 120 Princes Street will have food, snacks, clothes, gadgets for a £1 each (although many are now £2+).
We are all here for advice and help if you need it.
Think of the stories you will be able to tell on your return

I'm sure that Carsten will say, "Everything's in perfect condition!"
Sorry to hear about your travails, Carsten, but David's advice sounds like a sanity saving option. I hope this gets resolved real soon and that you enjoy the vacation.

Current status is maybe 5-10.000 bags in disorder at the airport, waiting for them to sort them in heaps per flight and calling us to come over. We managed to buy some food plus toothbrush etc, but Susanne could not stand the stuff sold in the major clothing stores so we skipped that for now at least. Still hoping they‘ll call.
If not, it will not be easy to clean up this mess- I think then we stand a real chance to have lost the bags forever. Mine is around 1500 Euros of items if bought new. Seems I have to sue Ryanair, then, for the days lost plus the bags. Without the camper rental we would have given up I guess by now.

Oh dear
Welcome to Post-Brexit Britain, Carsten. That and the sulky nature of airport personnel exacerbated by the hot weather. Its funny how some UK airports don't seem to have any problems where others are total chaos. Unfortunately, Ryanair don't have a great reputation for service and assistance either.
I'm sure you will get your bags back but, if not, then your insurance should cover it if the airport and airline won't. Keep receipts for everything you buy. I've lost bags following flights on 4 continents and always got them back intact.
If you a staying in the same place for a day or two then order from Amazon and have it delivered to the hotel. You may get it within half a day if you are lucky but probably next day if you have Prime.
Try to enjoy things despite the adversity. You will shortly be visiting some of the best scenery in the World.
Regards

Carsten and Susanne, please do try to make the most of the situation as David suggests, and Stu is right there’s some lovely scenery. I hope all will become a happier memory and you’ll look back on it as one of life’s rich pageant. Maybe you’ll even enjoy a dram or two.
All the best
