#1 World Car-Free Day

Post by Simon P » Fri Sep 22, 2023 8:56 am

Today, apparently, is World Car-Free Day, when, according to an email I've received from Transport for London and the Mayor of London*, each year people around the world celebrate by leaving their cars behind and enjoying freedom from motor traffic, whilst children dance and play in the streets (not quite sure how the little tyros are to do this on a day when they should be in school, but hey!)

I must admit I've already blown it by dropping off the family car first thing for its MOT - spending a lot of time in the process stuck in traffic with a lot of other people who obviously hadn't received the memo either - but I wonder what others here might be planning on doing to mark this momentous occasion?

CP seems like a bit of a nut job . I used to like him when he was on Springwatch , I`ll be avoiding any of his stuff from now on . I hope the Beeb cuts ties with him , I`d hate to think he was still getting license fee money .

Went with my wife to look at new bathroom furniture in the Range Rover. Collected 911 from local Porsche specialist after replacing all four dampers. Took it on a test drive to confirm the work. Took E-Type to supermarket for some wine. In a salute to Car-free Day I intend to further test the 911, extensively, around the local roads for no other purpose than enjoyment later today.
