#1 Try ?Dropbox?, I recommended this free software.

Hi Guys

I use a brilliant free software photo and file sharing and storage site called 'Dropbox'

Unlike many online photo storage sites like 'Photobucket' etc you don't have to upload you photos to a site, you just put them in a special folder on your desktop, and then you can invite others to share them, and when they install it, the photos magically appear in their desktop folder, and yet the photos are on 'The Cloud' in full original resolution.

At the moment I am putting my old family photos on there for my siblings, but I am running out of free space. For everyone I invite to join, I get 500mb of free storage when they join.

So I hope you might let me invite you to install it and try it for yourself, thus benefiting me, and you get to try the best photo and file sharing program out there. Please PM me with your email or contact acday'at'gmx.com

Thanks, Andrew

My son has a Dropbox account and he invited me to join so that he could get the extra storage. There was some problem or other, don't know what it was, when I tried to set it up. I contacted Dropbox to ask for help. The reply I got after about two weekssaid that they get so many queries that they only answer a small number and give preference to people who pay. Basically they said go away, not interested but if you pay we might give you some assistance. They didn't responde to my complaint.

I use (free) Dropbox for hosting various pdf's in our Knowledge Base and it does that job very well. I use Google Drive for securely holding copies of my insurance, driving licence, passports etc when we are abroad in case any get lost or stolen which can be a real nightmare. Photobucket does a good job of hosting pictures - I have over 5,000 on there for the Forum - and it is free although I may rapidly fall out of love with it with the new interface they are introducing to make life more complicated. Flickr seems to be a good alternative.

It would be more helpful to me to refrain from putting 'Dropbox' down as I am very happy with it and just seek to expand it. If you don't like it, please don't put others off from trying it. Ta. If you download it, you can always remove it later, I still keep the extra room, and you never know, you might like it too!

Not being unhelpful, merely explaining I can't join in as I already have a Dropbox account which I use and is excellent. Allows me to drop files into a folder on my PC and they are automagically sent to the Cloud. Never occurred to me to use it for photos but I will give it a try. As I say I am rapidly loosing faith in Photobucket because they are changing their interface to be "teen friendly" next week with Twitterface links etc so I will have to re-learn it.
