Wappenbury Hall is a nine bedroom Warwickshire pile with a racy history. Sir William Lyons and his wife once owned the hall and approved every new jaguar prototype on their drive, just half an hour from the factory where the cars were made. The imposing Victorian home has 6 elegant reception rooms, a games room, cellars, a coach house, a three bedroom cottage and farm buildings with planning permission.
Beautiful gardens, tennis courts, and a glorious swimming pool can be found outside, along with arable farming land amounting to 330 acres.

I've checked my bank balance. I've raided the kids' piggy banks. I've looked under the sofa cushions and under the fridge. Can't find the £7.5m required to save this property for the E-type community.

I've found a fiver down the back of the sofa that I could put in a kitty.....

I hope whoever buys it has the decency to own an E-type and park it outside!

Not long after William Lyons died, I attended the sale at Wappenbury Hall of all the contents, with the intent of buying his grand Piano which IIRC was a Bechstein . ( The house, by the way, was nicer than it looks in these photos which make it look rather institutional ) . Having lectured various people on incompetence only the week before, I was mortified to find that the sale had actually taken place the day before ! So, I never got my piece of Lyons memorabilia

Actually, better even than an E-type (not words I utter very often! ), surely whoever buys Wappenbury Hall has to buy this and park it outside:

Maybe we should start a campaign to petition the National Trust to save both for the nation?

But knowing what the NT is like it'll only be open to Joe Public at inconvenient times in months without an R or E

Hi everyone, I was doing some research on the house to learn more about its history, and I stumbled across this post.

My father recently purchased the house and I can assure you that he most certainly owns an E-Type He loves his Jags! He has plans to get the house involved with Jaguar and the Jaguar/classic car community. It needs a bit of work at this stage but I believe the house has come into good hands as my Dad is very keen to celebrate Sir William Lyons' memory and legacy and the role that the house has played in Jaguar's history. Few other houses have been so significant to the history of a car company, if any! Lyons in particular was always heavily involved with Jaguar, much more so than most other founders of large car companies.

In fact, I am currently typing this message from the 'breakfast room' of the house. It is a truly beautiful house, with lots of light and a very warm, friendly atmosphere. I just wanted to let you know that Jaguar fans need not worry as my Dad intends for the house to continue playing a role in celebrating the history behind these beautiful cars. I hope that Sir Lyons' spirit will be pleased.

Unfortunately I am not much of a car person but you can't help but admire the Jags, they are truly some of the most stunning cars ever created. The E-Type has always been one of my favourites among Dad's cars, if not THE favourite :)

Oh my god you would never believe it but my Dad actually DID buy this very same car! It is not parked outside the house though - it's in the Stables! (They are of course now 'car stables'!)

It's the very same car - same registration plate and everything! He did tell me about how it was owned by Sir Lyons; it was the car he was driven around in by his chauffeur and made specifically for him and his wife Greta!

I can also assure you that Dad takes utmost care of his cars and they're all in absolutely immaculate condition This car will be very well cared for.
