#1 New Engine Dull Road Test Videos

Post by politeperson » Sat Jan 14, 2017 8:43 pm

Well, just thought I would remind you what it is all about.

Having replaced most of the gubbins in my car (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9567) , the roads dried today out and the sun shone, so I could test her out. How unexpected.

I did a few hundred miles on the new motor. It is very nice indeed.

Apologies for the wind noise but you get the drift of it.

I took the Bluestone Heath Road in Lincolnshire. One of the best kept motoring secrets. Near Cadwell.

I am restricting myself to half throttle and 3,000 rpm. That means the car still goes like a bat out of hell.

3,000 rpm is 82mph. The new gearbox and clutch feel lovely.

Cant quite see to point of a 5 speed with a 2.88 rear diff (sorry to disagree boys)

I have created possibly three of the most boring films in history I know. Unless you like E types

In the middle film, I nearly get a pheasant sized dent around 7.45.

Sorry about the language. Then it looks like 2 chaps holding hands (nothing wrong with that).

You might think it is dull, I think it is very exciting.

Lovely shots James, Ahhhh I miss the view, the sound and the experience of flying round in an E-Type! That roar when you floor it in second, the bonnet rises and the thing takes off like the proverbial scolded feline. Richard's maroon S1 FHC was always a fabulous car to be a passenger in (never got to drive it - rats! ) - I hope he gets his act together with the bronze FHC, not that I will be around to see it any time soon.

Image

Looks like a lovely morning over in Blighty, The thought of an E-Type one day (among other things) still serves as motivation when you're in the lab on a Saturday writing up your university report. Still, the weather in Basel has been miserable the last few days, so even if I did have an E-Type I wouldn't be driving it  A drive in the Swiss mountains in a E must be so much fun (ANDREW - you lucky bugger  ) Some day, some day.....

You nearly had a nice slice of game pie for dinner there, at least you know the brakes are fine!

How much longer will you be in Switzerland Simon. I'm sure something could be arranged to give you your eType Swiss Mountain inauguration!

I'm here until the end of August, Mark. I'm sure a few of us could arrange a get together in the summer, thanks!

SWMBO has just asked what 'that hissing noise' was coming from my iPad whilst sitting up in bed. Should I tell her it was car porn? Why do I feel like I used to when as a child I was caught looking at the ladies underwear section of the club catalogue?

Lovely filming. Gorgeous car. Sadly today in hearts it is tipping down and there is mud and crud everywhere. Mine is in the garage keeping dry. Roll on spring time....

This is the small village of Skendleby.

Notable for a secrest 36,000 ft2 cold war bunker that I sold 15 years ago. Quite an amazing building, designed to be the HQ of the East of England in the event on nuclear war. It is disguised to look like a village hall, but has 3 underground levels with enough for 150 to live below for 6 months.

How the heck did I manage that?? I've seen 2 appear before, but 3 is a record even for me! Think my m ouse clicker stays on "click" sometimes, and repeats itself.
But yes, so itchy I might need some cream!

By the way polite person, what did you use to upload the videos to the forum? I use photobucket for photos, but the longest video I seem to get on photobucket is only 30 seconds; 150mbs
