It's time to renew my laid up insurance policy on my 1962 Series 1 FHC and haven't got a clue as to what value I should place on it.
The car is 90% complete with everything there to finish it bar a few small items. It really only needs the glass and interior trim fitting to see it completed. When finished it will be as good as most others out there, although not concours due to a few modifications.
What should be the valuation for insurance purposes?
Cheers

Most agreed values require the owner to get an independent valuer to assess the car and stamp and sign the valuation form if the car is likely to be worth over about £15000. My insurer does. Without seeing the car it is impossible to provide even a guess and in any case you will be well over £15k so best get a proper valuation done. I know the JDC has a valuations officer and I am sure other clubs do too. Your insurer may also be able to point you towards someone. They will charge a fee but then it is all official.

If you are in the JEC or the E Type Club they will do free evaluations which are acceptable to the insurance companies

Er,not quite free in the case of the JEC. I think the fee was £12 the last time I did it, however, I think that Graham Searle who does them for the JEC is perhaps a bit on the low side by modern standards, certainly in relation to E types

I use Peter James. They accept owner valuations up to £15K with at least four accompanying photographs. Beyond that they want an independent valuation signed and stamped by the valuer in addition to the photo's.
