I have a red Series 1 coupe by Burago. It came in self assembly kit form. Quality is ok although detail is not great.

I keep threatening to paint it Opalescent Dark Blue.

I have the superb Autoart FHC (black) and OTS (silver) but they are out of production I believe. You can find them in red on eBay but not cheap, although they never were: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-18-jaguar-E ... Swa~FZjyas

Quite superb though!

Thanks, however I'm a stickler for details an seems the only thing that comes close is the Autoart model.

Oh and the below 1:8 from Jaguar...

At £7250 one had better be able to drive it. Is it just the prospective clientele, or is there some dark secret reason for what seems a seriously absurd price?

The other option is the Deagostini 1:8 kit which is available in monthly installments. https://www.model-space.com/gb/buildjaguaretype

Not red but as it comes in parts you could easily repaint it.

It's an Amalgam model. That's about the going rate for their models in that scale. A lot of money - but they are works of art....

Many years ago I bought a Revell 1/8 plastic kit. Spent a few weekends with no2 son building it. They are available and not hideously expensive. eBay is your friend.......

Some weeks ago I was furiously searching for E Type models to build, and it seemed that, apart from the rather weird deal with getting parts by mail every month or so (I can imagine the nightmare with half of them going missing thisaway), the Revell was the most indicated traditional option. Some reviews suggested the quality was a bit variable, from very good to quite bad, with parts not fitting at all.

Any other experiences with Revell? Might be fun to fo back 40 years to my aeroplane building days.

You are right, the attention to detail is incredible.

A friend of mine had them replicate his McLaren P1 and Ferrari Speciale, correct interior, carbon detailing, paintwork, stripe etc... all I can say is wow, but it would be for that price!

I went for the Autoart 1:18 model, fits in with the rest of my collection.

I may consider the Revell 1:8 in the future. Any larger and detailed images? (does look good in your profile pic).

DBS,
We have covered the Revell 1/8 Scale models and other assembly kits previously in some detail in this Forum.

Have a look in the "Collectors Corner" section under the heading of "E-Type Assembly kits" and the following previous posts showing what can be done with these Revell models :-
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6993&p=51409&hilit=Mania#p51409

Or an alternative 1/8 scale E-Type assembly model and further details of the Revell/Monogram model :-

When I have some spare time I'll build the Revell model.

In the meantime, this arrived today, the 1:18 Autoart model. Very true to the '62 FHC and my spec :geek2:
