#1 Track day tomorrow

Post by Jupiter » Tue Oct 24, 2017 11:25 am

Castle Combe track day tomorrow with the JEC. Rain early morning but then breezy and warmish. The question is: Does the track tend to remain damp and greasy?

I have this before in the E-type and it's very slippery. Alway handy to learn more but I have a choice of using my V6 Alfa instead which is much more predictable.

Hi,
I don't race on this track but looking it situation, the win is going to dry up the track rapidly.
Greasy depend who race the day before. If it was old car, be sure it's sliding even if the track is dry.
If you are a lot the track is becoming better and better and could be perfect just at the last of the day, pity.
I have lived this many times...

anyway have a good funny day !!

As been said with the southwesterly ( ooo arc at
Wincy Willis ) the circuit will dry fairly quick . And to be honest I find the E very predictable ..... it all but writes me a letter to warn about the rear end stepping out about a day in advance
Are you going to do some in car filming ? Be good to see :swerve:

Update: Fantastic day. X3 runs and one in the XKR track car- serious kit great fun. Took tuition for a few laps then built up gradually. Drew some nice comments from a photographer and x2 drivers. XKR said he had to work hard to stay with me- XJR supercharged said it was a joy to watch an E driven hard from behind. Good dice but let him go eventually! Smokin’ brakes in the paddock! Tricky track looks easy, it isn’t! Car was better than expected but you feel the weight of it! Koni's, Polybushed, std roll bar. Can't upload images!?

"Tricky track looks easy, it isn’t!"
Yes, braking for Quarry corner before the previous corner takes some getting used to, and gets the heart going a bit the first time you get it wrong on a bike.
Are they still a bit hot on noise there? The last time I went my Ducati only got through because I didn't rev it as high as they asked for.

I glad to read you put in a creditable performance in the E.

Creditable for a first time maybe but just watched the video and it looks so pedestrian!

Normal, we are too much used with video from Formula one or Indy.
