Classic Show NEC. Going ?
#1 Classic Show NEC. Going ?
I’m just on the train to the NEC. Haven’t been for a couple of years, it is a bit too big for every year. Anyone else there today (Friday) ?
Gerry.

The car clubs area is well worth a while looking around. There are so many car dealers with stands nowadays that it’s a bit like a car supermarket, less like a show. Did 12000 steps, and it’s easy to get lost! Enjoy your day.
Gerry.

Not going this year as I just have too much on, but been several times over the years with Dad or Richard. Usually a good day out with a broad range of cars on show. You can also find some nice “automobilia” for garages and the like too.
One stand last time I went was doing custom rally plaques (toyed with the idea of them for our High Peak Run) and they have me two free key rings they have which happen to have an E-Type on them. Best thing I got all day. Anyone in my house knows exactly who they belong to as well!

I was there yesterday pretty much for doors opening. Was among the last to leave and still didn't see everything.
I was there 2 years ago and hated it because everything was crammed together but this year it was much better.
Parking charges are ridiculous, especially on top of the entry fee, which is also rather greedy. Food and drink also astronomical, as usual. One day we'll stop ripping each other off in this country.
Costs aside, it was a great day out. Lots of E Types, of course.
Regards

I also went yestday, huge amount to look at. I find some of theAmerican scene very interesting with some great workmanship.
I took the train this time from Colchester to Birminham International via Euston. £ hour journey so as quick as the car. I purchased an advance fist class ticket for £55.00 return which includes food and drink on the train, so breakfast on the way up and sanwich, crips, cake and red wine on the way home, great value and no rip-off.

Been going every year for the past 20 odd years, but decided to give it a miss this year due to the follow reasons..
so many roadworks on the motorway.
getting so busy on the Sunday (only day I'm free)
food/drink expensive and always to packed to sit.
have been taking sandwiches, but now everyone's doing the same and the benches outside are full.
nowhere to sit for a rest.
sick of being ripped off for car parking, £12.00, (other events at the NEC don't pay this.)
Too many halls, which unless you start at hall 1, you end up backtracking to see them all.
Was a far nicer event in the earlier years.

Went this year for the 4th time in a row. The show is so big now that we go for both Saturday and Sunday so we can get to see everything without rushing around.
Actually Saturday was by far the busiest day this year.
Good show with plenty to see although it had only 5 halls this year (last year there were 6). Lots of good help and advice from the people on the JEC and JDC stands and say some beautiful E Types on show (and for sale). One of particular interest was a Series 3 in navy with a red interior with a sliding metal sunroof which appeared to be a factory fit.
I agree about the parking, other shows at the NEC tend to be free.
