Please help! I’ve just had my Jaguar Heritage certificate through for my SIII V12 LHD E (XKE). The certificate says it was manufactured in December 1970 and dispatched to the US in January 1971. Surely these dates are a year out?

I believe the LHD cars were produced before the RHD cars - I have the 11th RHD convertible and it was not built until Aug 71 and it would seem that production of RHD convertibles started around Jul 71 with LHD cars much earlier.

Thanks guys. It seems the LHD 2+2s were produced first in 1970 ready for launch in the US in March 1971. So those dates make more sense. It also means my V5 is wrong with a manufactured date of 31 December 1971! Thanks again.

There was an earlier LHD Series 3 car for sale at the NEC Classic Car Show last November. I think it was dated November 1970, being sold by a private individual, and it was sold on the Sunday. I have now found some more information. The Regency Red Car at the NEC was 1S70151BW (Car No 151) Manufactured 3 Nov 1970, dispatched 26th Jan 1971 to British Leyland New York
